is a beach camping spot in Nilwella, near Dikwella. It is a private island giving amazing views of the sunset in southern Sri Lanka. Many love to camp in the cozy tents here surrounding a blazing campfire. It gives a very unique type of camping experience with the sound of the waves crashing against.
The experience at Blue Beach Island includes camping at night and snorkelling at sunrise. It is a recent addition to beach and camping adventures in Sri Lanka. It is an isolated island about 50 m away from the mainland which makes it a more secluded area ideal for camping. Camping here also includes a chance to indulge in some amazing seafood dishes, barbecue and various other delicacies.

are situated in Mulatiyana in the Matara district. It has a height of 3 meters. The source of the fall is from the Mulatiyana jungle. It is believed that there used to be a monastery at the site and that elephants used to bathe in the basin pool of the fall.

Kosgahadola Ella Fall is a popular waterfall in the area where locals and travellers come. There is a short footpath built towards the waterfall along with an observation deck for better views of the fall. The fall has escaped the fate of the surrounding area which is being destroyed for its natural resources.

lies about 18km away from the Morawaka town and 8 km away from the Pitabeddara Town. The Temple built during the 2nd century BC is on a rocky hill isolated from human habitation is attributed to King Saddhatissa ( 137-119 BC ) of the Anuradhapura Era. The temple has been built by King during the time he ruled the ancient Rohana kingdom during 161 to 137 BC as a prince.

Once you park at the vihara premises you can see the chethiya (stupa) far away on another mountain top. From here it is a climbing down to the foot of the mountain and then climbing the next hill. The steps are made out of granite and has been well laid.

To reach the bottom for the hill you need to climb down over 200 steps. At the bottom is a refreshing water stream. Walking across the stream, the climb begins. The ancient image house is about another 200 steps above this hill. The image house is a cave temple built on a natural rocky platform. A large reclining Buddha statue in this cave shows the Buddha in the state of parinibbana. All the statues in the cave has been covered by a large transparent glass.

One one side of the main image hall is a Devale for the Deitie”Rajjuru Bandara”. He is the most worshipped Deitie in this area. Most of the people who come to this temple from this area seems to be making the journey to visit the Devale rather than the image house.

On one side of the platform is a water drip coming from the rock itself. This is collected in a small tank. The image house in the cave has been recently renovated. But for the entrance the ancient granite door frames has been used.

Above the cave temple roof is a drip ledge to stop water coming in to the temple. But above this man main drip ledge is a larger natural ledge created by two huge boulders sitting on one another.

From the Devale there is another flight of steps going up to the stupa

are the first botanic garden established in the dry zone of Sri Lanka after unsuccessful effort to develop a botanic garden in the Anuradhapura district, during the British colonial period between 1883 and 1906. Prof. Siril Wijesundara, former Director General at the Department of National Botanic Gardens and his team selected this location in the dry zone with an area of 300 acres to establish the botanic garden due to two reasons. One reason was the land had been underutilized and covered by thorny scrub forest invaded heavily by invasive plant species. The other reason was the presence of perennial water source which had not been used for any other purpose called “Beragamawila”, near the selected land which could be used to develop the land.
