The VERY IMPORTANT Six Month Passport Rule. The expiration date on your passport is a bit deceiving. Several countries will deny travelers entry if the passport expires in less than six months. Why? If you get stuck overseas, the country wants to be sure you have a valid passport to travel back to the US. Consider renewing your passport nine months before it expires.
