Tigh-Bàta - the Boathouse - is found over the Fairy Bridge in the magical Waternish area of North West Skye and is positioned on the edge of Loch Bay with beautiful views across the Loch to Dunvegan and Lewis and Harris. The scenery around the house is stunning whether sunny or rainy. From the beautiful Sunrises to stunning Sunsets, the views will captivate you. We spent 18 months building on the

site of an Old Fish Farm and Tigh-Bàta is a modern, comfortable and luxurious house which is ideal for one family or two/ three families depending on the numbers. Accommodation comprises, on the first floor, Family Bathroom, 4 Bedrooms including Master Bedroom with En-suite Shower room and patio doors opening onto a balcony. The ground floor comprises a large open plan Kitchen/Dining Living Room that has a wood burning stove and two sets of patio doors opening directly onto a balcony and a large decking area. From here you can watch the sunrise and sunset, the wildlife and the Atlantic Ocean. You can almost dip your toes in the sea at high tide!! We have seen Otters playing on the shore, Dolphins swimming past and Eagles swooping overhead. Also on the ground floor is a large utility room with WC and shower, and a playroom which can be used as either another lounge or a double bedroom.

ANNOUNCEMENT-(but don’t panic!)

So once again we are at the mercy of the weather, but for once, we are not alone.

The outdoor event from 11pm in Somerled Square is now cancelled. Weather just too unpredictable. However, we are moving it to the community centre instead. So all is not lost.

If you wish to come to the community centre you will need to book your space online here as we need to manage numbers in there for health and safety reasons.

There is no bar. The entire event is BYOB(bring your own bottle) NO GLASS PLEASE. Plastic glasses available at venue. Door entry is CASH ONLY. U18s must be accompanied by an adult. NON ALCOHOLIC refreshments and treats available in aid of Friends of Portree Hospital(cash only)

As expected, it has been a very windy day, with stormy winds in exposed parts of Skye. Here are today's peak gust speeds (>70mph):

Elgol: 93.5mph @ 12:19
Shulista (Main): 89.7mph @ 11.13
South Uist Range (Met Office): 81mph
Fiskavaig: 80.8mph @ 13:04
Shulista (Ecowitt): 80.5mph @ 12:19
Glendale: 80.1mph @ 12:50
Stornoway (Met Office): 77mph
Balmeanach: 72.9mph @ 13:39

I have included the nearest official Met Office sites which logged >70mph today.

We have also had lightning in some of the squally showers. The Shulista detector recorded 3 strikes within ~15 miles of the detector today.

It will stay very windy this evening and through into Sunday morning, with squally showers and severe north-westerly gales (60 - 70mph) at times. Temperatures are now falling so showers will turn increasingly wintry overnight. Snow mostly above ~200m, a wintry mix of rain, hail, sleet and wet snow below.

Wind speeds will begin to slowly fall through Sunday afternoon, but it will feel cold, especially in the morning thanks to a strong north westerly. Further showers, perhaps wintry at times.

I hope no-one has had any damage from today's strong winds.
