🌍 Morocco Group Tour Recap: Day 8 🌅✨

Our day began with a breathtaking sunrise over Meknes, enjoyed from the rooftop of our riad while savoring a delicious Moroccan breakfast. A perfect start to the final stretch of our journey!

We traveled through Rabat, Morocco's capital, catching glimpses of its coastal charm and historic sites as we made our way south.

In Casablanca, we ate lunch at a seaside restaurant, dining with the sound of crashing waves as our soundtrack. 🌊 Then came a highlight of the day—visiting the majestic Hassan II Mosque, one of the largest mosques in the world and one of the few open to non-Muslims.

We were in awe of its stunning architecture, intricate mosaics, and the serene beauty of its seaside location.

After an unforgettable journey across Morocco, we made our way back to Marrakech for one final night on the town. The vibrant energy, lively streets, and glowing lanterns gave us the perfect send-off before heading home.

What an incredible adventure it’s been! 🇲🇦✨

🌍 Morocco Group Tour Recap: Day 7 💙✨

We began the day with free time to soak in the magic of Chefchaouen, Morocco's stunning "Blue Pearl."

Our group wandered through the vibrant blue alleyways of the medina, each corner a perfect photo opportunity. 📸
We visited a local park and explored the kasbah, where we enjoyed beautiful views of the city from within its historic walls.

In the afternoon, we traveled to Volubilis, a UNESCO World Heritage site, where history came to life. Arriving just before sunset, we were treated to golden light illuminating the ancient columns and well-preserved mosaics—truly magical! 🏛️🌅

We ended the day in Meknes, enjoying one of our best dinners yet in a local restaurant. The evening was spent in a gorgeous riad tucked inside the medina, blending comfort with Moroccan charm.

Another unforgettable day in Morocco—stay tuned as we continue exploring! 🇲🇦✨

Our day began in Fes, where our knowledgeable local guide introduced us to the magic of this historic city.

Highlights included:

-Stunning panoramic views of Fes from a hilltop vantage point.
-Spotting storks perched at the medina entrance, a charming sight!
-Wandering through the Jewish Quarter and navigating the labyrinth of narrow alleys in the medina.
-We watched artisans crafting mosaics with incredible precision and visited the iconic tannery, which has been operating since the 12th century! Mint leaves were handed out to help with the strong smells!

We enjoyed a delicious lunch in a beautifully decorated riad, soaking up the traditional Moroccan ambiance.

🌅 Morocco Group Tour Recap: Day 5 🏜️

We started our day in the most magical way—watching the sunrise over the Sahara Desert. The golden hues of the dunes were unforgettable. After breakfast, we hopped into 4x4s and made our way back to Merzouga, soaking in the last moments of desert serenity.

In Erfoud, we sampled the sweetest dates and learned about the region's fossil-rich history. Watching skilled artisans transform fossils into intricate furniture and artwork was an amazing experience.

Our journey north took us through the lush Ziz Valley, a true oasis of endless palm trees amidst the desert landscape. 🌴✨

Later, we arrived in Ifrane, a charming mountain town often called “Little Switzerland” for its European-inspired architecture and alpine vibes. We took a leisurely walk to enjoy its picturesque streets. 🏘️❄️

As the day ended, we arrived at our hotel in Fes, ready to explore this historic city tomorrow.

Stay tuned for more Moroccan adventures! 🚐🕌

Morocco Group Tour Recap Day 4

What a day! We started off with a jaw-dropping view of the Monkey Fingers rock formations, then headed to the stunning Todra Gorge - it reminded us of Zion National Park! 🏞️

Next up, we channeled our inner Berbers with a traditional outfit fitting. 🇲🇦 After that, we made our way to Merzouga, the gateway to the Sahara Desert. 🐪

We rode camels into the sunset (and then the darkness!) and arrived at our desert camp. 🌙 Even in the desert, we had luxury glamping with flushing toilets and showers in our tents (but no power outlets, so it was a true unplugged experience). 🔌🚫

We feasted on delicious food, stargazed, and were mesmerized by a traditional singing and drumming performance. We even got to join in the fun! 🎶🔥

Can't wait to share more adventures from the Sahara tomorrow! 🏜️

🌍 Morocco Group Tour Recap: Day 3 🏔️

Today was an adventure into the heart of Morocco’s Atlas Mountains!

As soon as we headed into the Atlas Mountains, the air was cooler, and the views were incredible. Snow-capped peaks in the distance were a surprise. We learned about argan oil processing for food and cosmetics and had a few samples!

After a scenic drive, we stopped for lunch at a cozy local restaurant before crossing a river to the famous Aït Ben Haddou—a UNESCO World Heritage site. This ancient ksar amazed us with its fascinating history:

-We saw invisible ink reveal its secrets.
-Admired the traditional mud-brick architecture still standing strong.
-Enjoyed refreshing mint tea inside a local home.
-Wandered the winding alleys

In the evening, we continued our journey to Dades Gorge, where towering cliffs and rugged beauty surrounded us. We ended the day with a warm tagine dinner, savoring the authentic flavors of Morocco before settling in for the night.

Stay tuned as our adventure continues! 🚐✨

🌍 Morocco Group Tour Recap: Days 1 & 2 🕌

Day 1:
Welcome to Marrakech! 🛬 Everyone in our group landed and some of us dove straight into the vibrant heart of the city—the medina. The bustling alleys, colorful souks, and the buzz of local life gave us a taste of the magic that Morocco has in store.

Day 2:
We started the day with Aziz, our fantastic guide, who took us to the stunning Bahia Palace—a masterpiece of intricate architecture and history. 🕌 Next, we explored the medina, weaving through souks filled with artisan workshops, vibrant stalls, and hidden gems.

A visit to the historic Madrasa Ben Youssef left us in awe of its ornate design. For lunch, we enjoyed a delicious rooftop meal with sweeping views of Marrakech. 🍴🌟

The afternoon was a serene escape to the Majorelle Garden, with plentiful succulents and bold colors. 🌿💙 After some well-earned rest at the hotel, we wrapped up the day in Marrakech's modern district, savoring dinner and stocking up on snacks for our upcoming road trip.

Stay tuned for more adventures as we explore Morocco together! 🚐✨

Iceland Road Trip Day 10

An early morning was required to make a walking tour in Reykjavik. We found a free parking lot near the old Harbor and walked to the city center. We learned about the history of Reykjavik, early founders, government, naming conventions, building materials, geothermal heating, and more! It was a great introduction to the city.

We visited the church and had a clear view of the city from the top of the elevators for a small fee. We tried rye bread ice cream and chocolate licorice ice cream, had a famous hot dog, did a bit of shopping, and ate some seafood at the harbor. We got a lot of steps in today and then had to pack and prep for our journey home tomorrow.

Iceland Road Trip Day 9

We got up early to try and beat the afternoon wind warnings and our first stop was Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon. There are huge icebergs in the water from a glacier that eventually wash out to the ocean creating diamond beach. This was pretty spectacular!

On our drive southwest into Vik, we were greeted with multiple glaciers. It was entertaining that they appeared to just end in fields from the vantage point of the road. We crossed the section of road that had been repaired since our first full day in Iceland and it was a small stretch of road that shut down the whole ring road for over 24 hours.

The wind had picked up by the time we arrived in Vik so we did a quick pit stop and continued on to a campsite in Hella.

Iceland Road Trip Day 8

After getting groceries and gas we wanted to check out the coastal town of Seyðisfjörður. There were two small cruise ships in this port town which made the tiny town feel crowded. Just about everyone wanted a photo of the rainbow road leading to the church. There were waterfalls, local shops, hiking trails, and an outdoor exhibit on women’s working history in Iceland.

We had some distance to cover today because of wind warnings in this area for the later afternoon and tomorrow morning. There was also an increased risk of landslides and we didn't want to get stuck with another road closure right before flying. Luckily it was a beautiful drive along the eastern fjords.

Iceland Road Trip Day 7

Ásbyrgi is a glacial horseshoe shaped canyon. There is a short walk to see the canyon and the amazingly clear water at the base of it. This whole area is part of the Vatnajökull National Park.

We saw amazing views around the area and two waterfalls: Réttarfoss and Dettifoss. Since it's about a 10-15 minute walk one way to Dettifoss, we recommend you wear rain pants. We got caught in the rain and you will learn that most of the time it's too windy to use an umbrella.

We drove along a partial dirt road to Stuðlagil Canyon which I had seen in videos online. There are basalt columns seemingly out of nowhere straight from the ground with a teal blue water running between them. The teal color is the wastewater from a geothermal plant, which is also used at thermal baths around Iceland such as the Blue Lagoon.

We ended the night relaxing in the Vök Baths which had multiple heated pools along a lake. A few brave people jumped into the very cold lake and then back into the hot pools.

Iceland Road Trip Day 6 Part 2

The diamond circle is another loop you can visit off the ring road in northern Iceland. Our next big stop along the route after Lake Mývatn was Húsavík. It was put on the global map in 2020 with the Netflix movie Eurovision with Will Ferrell and Amy McAdams.

We had to see the Ja Ja Dingdong bar that houses the only Eurovision museum. They have memorabilia about the real Eurovision competition and a room dedicated to the movie. We also visited the church in town which is shown in the movie.

There were quite a few wooden sightseeing boats for whale watching. It's the best place in Iceland to go whale watching, although we decided not to go this time.

As we continued our loop north, we saw people parked and walking by the coast. We stopped to see what they were looking at and saw tons of puffins coming in for the evening. We continued to our campsite in Asbyrgi and cooked dinner in the van to avoid the rain outside.
