North to Alaska...we are going back to the Last Frontier!

In exactly one month from today, on September 19th, I am es**rting my Star and Star Advantage groups, on our 15-day Mediterranean Extravaganza.

September 19 thru October 4th...

We sail on the Star Legend, all-suite yacht, from Barcelona to Athens and then from Athens, to sail one of the two most popular Windstar itineraries, the Treasures of the Greek Isles.

Windstar didn't have this 15-day itinerary scheduled for 2024 - I had done some research into which of the WS yachts actually sailed this itinerary - and discovered that out of 94 of these Treasures of the Greek Isles, only one was on the all-suite Star Legend. The other 93 sailings are on the smaller Wind Star or Wind Spirit sailing yachts, with the smaller cabins.

So I proposed to Windstar to let me combine the 8-day sailing from Barcelona to Athens and the 7-day sailing in the Greek Isles - and market this 15-day sailing as my Mediterranean Extravaganza.
All 15-days on the Star Legend - whereby my combined groups have the in-demand spacious suites to enjoy!

Did you know that Hawaii receives more tourists in 10 days than Tahiti receives in one year!

The Island of Oahu has over 900,000 people living on it - equal to the population of Fort Worth, Texas!

Did you know that the so-called interstate highways on Oahu - H-1, H-2 and H-3 - are some of the worst traffic byways in America?

Tahiti has no high-rises - the entire population of French Polynesia, which consist of 118 islands - is about 304,000, less than the City of Honolulu.
From San Francisco or Los Angeles, Papeete, the capital of Tahiti is about 8 hours flying time - or 2 movies, 2 meals and 2 Pina Coladas away!

In all my travels around the world - Tahiti is the best example of what paradise on earth can be - and I would love to share with you this very special place!

As promised, here is the love story that Jimmy had with Tahiti / French Polynesia when he visited there in 1983 and wrote the now famous song - One Particular Harbor.

Just so you know and for full disclosure, I have been a fan of Jimmy Buffett since 1975, soon after he released his awesome album - A1A - which included A Pirate Looks at Forty (still popular).

We serious fans of Jimmy are known as Parrotheads and we wear funny headgear (like parrots) and wear Hawaiian shirts, shorts and slippers to his concerts...and generally in life as well.

Not sure how many of you out there are fans of Jimmy Buffett, however, I know there are millions here in America and around the world.

We are still saddened by his recent death and still play his songs on a regular basis.

One of my very favorite songs is One Particular Harbor - a Tahitian perspective of the view from high atop the mountain overlooking Cooks Bay on the Island of Moorea - my favorite island and what I consider to be one of the most beautiful in the world.
Here is Jimmy in his own words about the inspiration of this timeless song and one that I listen to frequently...especially when readying to travel to Tahiti once again.

"I had my sights set on Tahiti a long time ago and connived my way there through my good friend Tom Moffatt in Hawaii. We went there to play a show to an unknown audience, but that didn't matter. I had still made it to Tahiti. At the airport we were met by an old expatriated American named Hugh Kelly who had run away from home a long time ago. We became instant friends, and he took me to his home on Moorea in the mountains above Cook's Bay. When I looked down at the vista, the song came out as if it had been sitting inside me waiting for the moment."

We barely made it out of the canyon after rafting the Colorado River yesterday afternoon - our bus driver could barely see the road back to Moab - it was very serious with rocks falling off the cliffs and hitting the top of our bus!
