Two years ago, we visited the property in the winter to see if we loved it as much as we did in the summer. Less than a year later, we bought it and started planning the Europe Lake Cabins! This past week (before the snow), they did a test dig for the septic. ❤️🦽❄️

The Fishstock Concert Series lineup has officially dropped, and let’s just say—it’s GOOD.

Not familiar with Fishstock? Let us be the ones to sing its praises. Every Sunday during the summer, the historic Fishstock barn transforms into one of the hottest musical venues in Door County. Here are some of the highlights:

🎵 100-year-old Door County barn with seating indoors and outdoors on concert evenings
🎵 All concerts feature state-of-the-art lighting and sound systems
🎵 Tailgating opportunities to hang with your friends both before and during the concerts

There's a eclectic mix of artists, too—foot-stomping folk, bluesy and bluegrass ballads, and plenty of expert musical showmanship.

Candlelight Strolls!!

It can be challenging to stay active outside during the winter months when daylight is short, and temperatures drop. Luckily, Wisconsin state parks, forests, trails, recreation areas and wildlife areas offer plenty of opportunities for winter recreation, including one of our favorite events of the year – candlelight hikes!

These free-to-low-cost events typically begin around sunset and offer a variety of ways to enjoy the winter scenery after dark, including hiking, snowshoeing and cross-country skiing, depending on weather and snow conditions.

Those who would like to participate by hiking and snowshoeing do not need to have any experience. These events offer no-commitment opportunities to try something new. Some properties may have equipment, such as snowshoes, cross-country skis or an outdoor wheelchair, available to check out.

At the end of your illuminated hike, warm up by the bonfire with hot chocolate or cider. These and other refreshments will be available at most events thanks to our valuable Friends Groups and other partners.

It’s been a while since our last post, but we’ve been keeping busy behind the scenes. Given the sensitivity of our land and our desire to protect it, we decided to hire an environmental engineer to conduct an official wetland delineation. This helped us identify areas we must preserve during construction and those we are committed to safeguarding. That process spanned from June to October!

Meanwhile, we’ve all been dreaming about the future of our space. Our 11-year-old daughter made me especially proud—she came to me the other day with her own design for our cabin! ❤️ Check it out; I think she did an incredible job!

Our family thrives on diverse abilities, transportation modes, and embraces the cognitive spectrum. Normal? Let the excitement begin! 💫 As a perpetual dreamer, I’m always envisioning new ideas, sometimes to the detriment of our wallet! But building a house, or in this case, a cabin, is where the real fun begins. We’re sketching out plans for both a larger and a smaller wheelchair accessible cabin, eager to start construction ASAP. Picture lots of windows blurring the boundaries between architecture and nature, wood accents bringing warmth year-round, and textures creating that cozy, homely feel.

Exciting Announcement! We have just acquired the land in Door County, to construct our wheelchair accessible cabins! If you’re new to this journey, let us take a moment to introduce ourselves.

We are Kristy and Jeremiah, a husband-and-wife duo, along with our three amazing kids, and our friend and business partner, Chad. Our bond goes beyond blood; it’s built on shared experiences and a collective vision for creating something extraordinary.

Over fifteen years ago, life took unexpected turns for both Chad and Jeremiah, leaving them paralyzed. Additionally, our son, who walks with a cane due to cerebral palsy, has added unique perspectives to our journey. Navigating the challenges of finding wheelchair-accessible rentals ourselves, we understand the frustrations all too well.

Our personal struggles led to a profound realization - the scarcity of wheelchair-accessible retreats. Driven by the desire to transform this frustration into a haven for others, we decided to embark on a mission to build wheelchair-accessible cabins.

As nature lovers, we’ve discovered solace beneath starlit skies and the embrace of untouched landscapes. We believe in the healing power of nature. The chirp of a cricket, the vastness of the sky, and the whisper of the wind offer a sanctuary for reflection and healing.

Having recently acquired a piece of land nestled in an undeveloped forest and wetlands of Europe Lake in the upper peninsula of Door County, WI, our dream is taking shape. We envision a fully-inclusive getaway on the shores of the inland lake, offering universally-accessible cabins where families of all abilities (and their furry friends!) can find respite and connection with nature.

The dream is still alive! It has been awhile since we have touched base. Last year we announced our dream of building an accessible retreat. Many of you supported our fund me campaign and encouraged us. Thank you!

We found property, made an offer but couldn’t come to an agreement. We hope to make another offer this year. As some of you know Jeremiah and I are both small business owners. Last year was tough financially, which deflated our balloon a bit. But definitely didn’t pop it! We are determined to work harder and smarter this year to put every extra penny towards this dream.

We appreciate your continued support and prayers. I feel strongly this is part of God’s plan, we just don’t know the details yet.
