🎈🎉 SAVE THE DATE 🎉🎈

Join us on June 28, 2023 from 10:00am to 4:00pm to celebrate Governor Jacob Viarrial Day at the Poeh Cultural Center. The day will be filled with food, dances, stories, demos, and children’s activities!
___________________________

Governor Jacob Viarrial was huge advocate for both the rights the Pueblo of Pojoaque as well as indigenous people around the world. He would often hold the state and federal governments accountable for what he felt was right. Many locally, statewide, and even nationally, admired and respected his unwillingness to compromise what he felt was best for his community.

Long before gaming, Governor Viarrial was building a small business to provide employment and income for his people. His vision for economic development was legendary. His administration as well as tribal council built Pojoaque into a major economic power in Northern New Mexico which today provides jobs to over 1200 New Mexicans and 80 local contractors.

To younger generation in his lifetime, he was everyone’s Uncle Jake - serving simultaneously as their protector and compassionate councilor, as well as the funny uncle who had no problem sharing his latest joke with a conference room full of people. We celebrate Governor Jacob Viarrial Memorial Day because he continues to be an inspiration.

Much like an equinox marks a key celestial juncture when night and day are roughly equal in length, this exhibition marks a critical moment in their art careers as they share one thing in common: this is their first exhibition. Join us at the Poeh Cultural Center on March 31, 2023 for the opening reception of EQUINOX. 🌙
