A wonderful visit to a truly magical place today. Here are some photos of Knockman Wood where the birdsong was incredible and we were lucky enough to hear cuckoos call. We were warmly welcomed at Glenquicken Farm shop where all of the wild venison and game are locally sourced within our biosphere. All within 7 miles of the cottage 😊

A lovely walk round Knockman's Wood by Newton Stewart. Will definitely be back. Then a wee look at Grey Mare's Tail by Murray's Monument.

Had a nice walk up Cairnsmore of Fleet, saw deer, goats and red kite really close, riding the thermals, and constant chatter of birdlife. Views as far as Isle of Man, and managed to dodge the showers.

Still not too late to visit this May, the bluebells are spectacular this year.

We're getting new windows in, so I'm "having" to take my tea outside this morning.

Dumfries and Galloway has incredible biodiversity. The spring wildflowers are spectacular. These photos are from today's short stroll from the cottage- carpets of bluebells. Also saw red kites, buzzards and many small birds. Just lovely. 😊

Our beautiful, dog friendly, terraced cottage lies in the heart of Dumfries and Galloway. With an open fire, a huge enclosed garden & summerhouse, beautiful woodland walks straight from the door and miles of deserted beaches just a short drive away, it's a fantastic base to explore the area. Only 6 miles from the market town of Newton Stewart, with Wigtown (Scotland's book town) and Kirkudbright (The Artists' Town) within easy reach, there's something for everyone. If you book directly with us, we can offer a discount for a limited number of weeks. All being well, we are opening up on 26th April!

Eddie dreams of his frosty walks by the river and brisk, winter runs along the beaches near the cottage. We dream of cosy evenings by the fire. We hope it won't be long before we are allowed to welcome our lovely guests to the cottage; we already have some bookings. It's such a spectacular area whatever the season ❤

A stone's throw from our cosy cottage. On a clear day, you can see the Isle of Man rising from the sea. In Spring, cuckoos frequent the nearby woodlands. Beautiful and very atmospheric.

We are delighted to say that the Forestry and Land Scotland visitor centres at Kirroughtree, Glentrool and Clatteringshaws have now re-opened. 🌲🏫🌳

The majority of our car parks and mountain bike trails are also now open again. 🚗🚴‍♀️
