GMS Training Solutions provides gaming, modeling, and simulations as a platform for organizational development. These solutions will challenge and educate teams to function as a more effective and adaptable team. At this time, GMS Training Solutions has five offerings from which to choose.
1. Friday Night in the ER: This gaming module simulates managing a hospital during a 24 hour period over a F
riday night. Groups respond to patient volume as well as unexpected events. The debrief provides skills in system’s thinking and knowledge of Lewin’s Force Field Analysis. Participates walk away from this 4 hour class with understandings related to communication, teamwork, and innovation. ExperienceChange: This 2 hour online course begins with pre-work and a computer game module that simulates a change management project to promote patient throughput in an Emergency Department. Groups will use steps based on Kotter’s and Cohen’s work on change management to overcome resistance and successfully implement a change project. Post-game debrief will reinforce key concepts. (Health care experience is not required).
3. ExperienceInnovation: This half-day workshop uses a simulated urban development problem to teach skills to promote innovation. It uses the IDEA framework for capturing, evaluating, and implementing new ideas.
4. Group Facilitation: This 4 hour facilitated brainstorming session uses the techniques of appreciative inquiry to allow groups to better understand current status and to build on successes to develop future goals and directions.
5. Experiential Training: This 2 to 4 hour custom designed training simulation is utilized to build team skills related to communication, teamwork, and the handling of crucial conversations with customers and co-workers. Concepts are based on TeamStepps, Crew Resource Management, and evidence based customer service skills.
