Backhoe - n. When the volume of dip e

xceeds the size the edible dipping device. Bacon - Term used to describe an experience, food, or thing that is far too superior to explain in a few words. Term has replaced the word “epic” in the Garve community. Examples- That ride was bacon! Last night we made a delicious steak dinner and the ale was bacon. Cache - n. An extra plate of food beside you for when you’re really hungry and don’t want to break your eating stride. Composting - v. Consuming food scraps on the table or eating area. Coyote That S**t – phrase. To take a person’s food from their hand. Deckin’ - v. To visit multiple restaurants in one evening. For example: “We went decking last night to Pine St Biscuits, Radio Room and Tonalli’s Donuts!”

Dicus - Term used to describe an extraordinaire positive change in something. Example: “Our yard looked like s**t until we dicus'd it and now there's waterfalls and butterflies everywhere...” or “You outta dicus that sandwich,(adding three other cheeses to a pretty much plain grilled cheese sandwich).” Named after one of the Garve founders. Doin’ The Dishes - v. Using your tongue, finger, or edible cleaning device to clean a plate or eating area. Eminent Domain - v. When a Garve walks into someone’s kitchen and takes the food from their refrigerator or cabinets. Envy - Noticing that your neighbor has a larger plate of food than you. Foodie - n. The antithesis of the Garve. “Foodie” is a corporatized term used to market products to people described as those who “enjoy food for pleasure or who has a particular interest in food”. Everyone enjoys food. A Garves passion is primal! (The) Force - An extreme power which enables Garve masters to overcome hunger at any given time. Garvecue - n. A gathering of Garves usually found near a cooking area for long periods of time. Garvelling - v. Gargling soup. Garvalous - Food that is ready to be pounced upon. Garverator - n. See photo page. Contact a Garve for instructions! Garvidence - Documenting low food prices during off season to ensure a fair deal when the time is right. Tip: Use your camera phone to document prices. Glue - n. Spread or type of cheese used to hold folded items together. For example, using an avocado spread to hold your stacker together. Holster - n. Carrying case for the garverator or other utensils. Home Snarfing - A Garve eating alone at home or with nobody watching. Jailbreak - When you open up your fridge and food and/or beverages jump out at you in search of freedom! Mop - n. A napkin, cloth or towel used to clean off a Garve’s face or eating area. Pan Handling - v. When a Garve walks into a restaurant kitchen and uses the chef’s utensils to cook their own meal. Penalty - v. Eating at a fast food establishment. Primal - v. Grilling meat or veggies on a heated rock or stone. Roof Grate - Damaging the roof of the mouth by eating. For example: When you eat your cereal too fast and your mouth feels ripped up. Sabotage - v. Piercing a styrofoam plate with your fork or garverator. Garves do not endorse the use of Styrofoam plates! Sleeping Pill - n. An enormous burrito. Sloothing - v. Piercing your neighbor’s food with the fork end of the garverator while eating your meal. Usually while eating at high speeds. Smell Rip - v. Enticing a fellow Garve by offering up a wafting of the deliciousness that will ensue. Stacker - n. A combination of foods that are not generally found together, but that are delicious together. For example: Apple, goat cheese and beef jerky. Or: Oreos, peanut butter and popcorn. Stampede - The arrival of four or more Garves at a BBQ at the same time. Stress - A Garve at the end of a food line. Tabling - v. Taking food from another person’s plate. Tapatio - v. Duct taping food for easy eating. Trespassing - v. When an individual carrying food walks past a Garve and does not offer a taste of food to the Garve. Warning - v. When a group of Garves notifies a restaurant to tell them that the Garves are coming to eat! Wringer - When food is covered in enough grease that one can wring out the grease with a paper towel. It is common that the food item catches on fire before the wringing process. Wringers are highly flammable.
