How does this work?

Clementine is an Airbnb sailboat. She never leaves the dock, but as you can see, the lake experience is gorgeous, every bit as nautical as you want it to be, and somehow feels secluded right in the middle of the city.

The sailboat is located at Reefpoint Marina in Racine, WI which gives you access to a heated pool and two heated hot tubs which are tucked in by the Root River on one side and Lake Michigan on the other.

Most people book for one or two nights to celebrate a birthday, honeymoon, anniversary, or just because. Pack your favorite cute shirt for dinner and a swimsuit and we have plenty of blankets for you to curl up with in the cockpit for a late night glass of wine or an early morning cup of coffee (there’s some Starbucks for the Keurig on board but bring your own cream for the mini fridge). ☕️

Some pictures don’t show it but we now have custom curtains to help block light and add privacy. Clementine is at the very end of the dock so it feels a bit private anyway.

There’s no bad weather for this little excursion - the hot tub is always hot, and there is heat and AC on the boat. Oh, and ice cream in the ship store!🍦

There’s Wi-Fi and Netflix on the boat and two people can sleep comfortably. Any more than that - well, we hope you really like each other. The boat rocks a smidge but it shouldn’t make you seasick. And yes, you can use the toilet on the boat but there is a big nice shower house/bathrooms right down the dock for your convenience. Don’t miss the Reefpoint Brewhouse, a restaurant in the marina with fish n’ chips, salmon salad and whatever you want to drink.

Clementine has been in the water for four years now and has received hundreds of 5-star reviews and Superhost status. She’s got big tiny-home vibes and will delight you with her views. Can’t wait to host you!

When we first got our hands on this boat we had these huge visions of grandeur: pull our kids out of school, travel the world on a boat, wake up and swim in the Mediterranean. That sounded so good until we realized that Dustan is a real seasick kinda guy 🤢 and we love waking up in beds and maybe one day we will just take a big family trip to Greece and call it good. For now we enjoy the simpler pleasures this boat unlocks for us and it’s why you will love it too: sunsets in the marina, long talks in the hot tub, a heated pool, playing cards and watching Netflix in the AC when it’s time to chill out.

And then going home to your bed 🛌 ❤️

The kids we have adventured with thru thick and thin, when Lake Michigan is as well-behaved as a tropical paradise but also when she’s turbulent and grey and we own the place. There’s no whining about sandy food or cold water, even when we all need sweatshirts and sandwiches. We’ve shared more snacks and sunsets than I can count, and it’s hard to believe these guys are moving. 😩

We are a little bit in denial but really happy their last Racine days are packed with paddle boards and sailboats down at the marina. Maybe we’ll continue some Clementine adventure farther south one day! 🍊

This little spot? The quarter berth. It’s actually bigger than you think and can sleep a grown dude pretty comfortably. But aboard Clementine, this little compartment is mainly used to store luggage and overnight bags, a couple umbrellas, the charcuterie board and cockpit cushions when not in use, or a place to stuff extra pillows and blankets. Every. Single. Inch. Of this sailboat has been touched, cleaned, repainted, carpeted, cushioned and fluffed. Which friend would you stuff in the quarter berth?? Tag em! 😂

Whew. Overhauling this sailboat and presenting her to the world was a definitely a huge load off. 18 months of Dustan tucking the kids into bed, leaving the house around 10pm and sanding, fiberglassing, deconstructing a boat and basically rebuilding a tiny home on water, only to return home at 2am and get up the next day and do the same thing…it took a ton out of us. But every day things got better, and suddenly there was a teeny aqua fridge, and then there was a friend with an industrial sewing machine and Dust became a YouTube seamstress and then there were cushions. And then pillows and dishes and I got in there with my paintbrush. And before our eyes, a brand new space bobbing on the water took shape that we knew would host all kinds of people living all different kinds of lives, and it energized the finishing touches, and made us not regret the time we poured into details. (All the magic is in the details.) We are getting ready to launch a new pet project to the world and we couldn’t be more excited and ready to be done, but we’re also older and wiser now. We haven’t killed ourselves on this project, we’ve taken time off for a few water parks and pancake mornings and stretched our spring deadline way out into summer.
