Four radically different art exhibits in London are the subject of today's installment. The Tate Modern The Tate Modern Gallery can always be counted on for unusual displays of art. Mire Lee envisioned the vast cavern that is the Turbine Hall of the museum as an "Open Wound." One of the major exhibits on at the Tate Modern is "Mike Kelley Ghost and Spirit." This is a hard one for me to explain....

Throughout my life, I have felt like a late bloomer. Like the tortoise in the old story, I usually get where I am going, but it may take a while. That describes this year's sojourn to London. My recalcitrant foot slowed me down some and made me modify plans, but as the weeks have gone by, I have regained my poise and my equanimity....

The ŠkampaQuartet at Wigmore Hall New Photos in the Cafe New Photos in the Cafe Latest Stage Bouquet I must say that three-times lucky was how I felt after the Škampa Quartet's performance at Wigmore Hall. This incredibly talented Czech string quartet played Mozart and Brahms and provided a lovely Czech traditional song as their encore. Two violins, a viola and cello, all played with great expertise provided an hour of absolutely delightful music for a rapt audience....

A new post, visiting some favorite places.

More of Wigmore! My second visit to Wigmore Hall, this season, was a Monday midday concert. As you can see from the picture on the left, there were fresh bouquets on either side of the stage. You c…

Return to Wigmore Hall When last I visited wonderful Wigmore Hall, my mobile phone was stolen on the way there. So, for the first of this year's Sunday morning concerts, I took a taxi rather than walk. Like my photo above of the stage bouquet, things weren't quite in top form for the first Sunday morning concert of the Autumn season....

It's been a minute since my last entry. I've been coping with my 'foot issues,' but they seem to be trending in the right direction. I've been taking it slow and easy but have managed to capture three recent excursions. Above is an unrelated photo of the inside of the Observatory Cafe, one of my Bloomsbury favorites that had been closed for 'summer holidays through August....

Finally, a chance to visit another Cathedral, and a great way to get there! The Thames Link The Thames Link is a relatively new train service that provides service between the town of Bedford, 46 miles North of London) to the seaside resort town of Brighton, 47 miles South of London. But the route the train takes through central London has provided great improvements to getting to places within London, as well....

Bad Traffic, Bad Foot It has been a tough couple of weeks, as my plantar fasciitis has continued to slow me down. In aid of saving steps, I decided to take a Black Cab down to the Tate Britain. I'm always amused at the discussions I have with London cabbies. This fellow wanted to make sure I knew where I wanted to go....

A new season of my adventures begins.

And so, I have returned to London. My first week has been one of slowly working on getting my legs and feet back in shape. An early spring strain of my calf muscles which led to a flare up of plant…
