Having problems with wipers just randomly stopping, they go into park fine but then just stop ? This has been going on for a few months.
Recently went to Ireland and drove from Sheffield to Holyhead and it rained all the way and all was well until ten mins away from ferry port and they stopped ?
I’ve had an auto electrician out and he just stopped a couple of relays and said they should be fine. This was a week before I went to Ireland so obs that was wrong. Previously to that I fitted another wiper motor and obs not that. So when I spoke with the auto electrician he said it could be the intermittent wiper control module but that is probably fitted behind the dash.
Well I can tell you it’s not. In the photo you can see a black cover held in place by two nuts. I removed that and as you can see there is a relay and the small box which is the control box. I have just replaced the relay to see if that was at fault. If the wipers fail again I’ll replace the control box. Watch this space

Wiper motor has always played up. Works when it wants. Not a lot of good when your in the M18 and it’s pi***ng down
So went on Auto doc and put Reg in and one came up at £20
Thought now that’s a bargain, I had serviced the old one but that made no difference. New one came took old one off and then realised the mounting holes are in a different position and the multi connection is totally wrong.
Did another search and they are like hens teeth to get. And in the uk £318 !!!
Found one in Germany made contact with the company and they won’t send to uk !!! Fortunately I have a nephew who lives there, he’s purchased it ( £118 euros) and is going to send it over. I have also sent the original one away to be fully stripped and rebuilt.

You need to talk to Graham 0114 247 2623 and tell him John O’ malley has recommended them. He’s a lovely chap.

Well cambelt done, new diesel
Filter housing and front cross member replaced. And a service so should be good for a while. £1100 bill but that was all included in the price I paid for the van
320 solar panel plus all the Victron bits and bobs including trickle charge the engine battery. Also a new 220amp battery.

Another job I’m doing at the moment is the bathroom tap.
Mine was leaking at the base so I did a search of how to swop the cartridge.
I couldn’t find anything on the groups I’m in or Google only how to remove the complete tap which is very difficult.

So I went about stripping it, unscrew handle. Remove screw take micro switch out and then I was stuck. It looked like the top unscrewed but I tried but I found I had nothing to grip on.
So I got some long nosed pliers and got them round the brass nut inside the tap on the top. Suddenly the whole top turned and so I was able to remove the cartridge.
I may have done a little damage but I have ordered a new cartridge and I will update once fitted !!!!!

Next job on the list was to grease the rear Alko axel which probably had not been done for many many years. Some say jack bothe rear wheels off the ground at once but others say one at a time is fine.
I just did one at a time without any issues.
It sat pump 5 or 6 times it until you feel resistance. I didn’t feel any and emptied half a tube into the ni***es !! I shall be doing it again very soon

I have only had my van a few weeks now. My old van was a 93 544 and wanted to upgrade.
I love it but have started to do the jobs to get it up to the speck I want.
I found that I had a leaking roof light as the van had been parked up for around 5 years in a compound under some trees.
Once I’d washed the roof this must have dislodged all the crud that was stopping the rain entering the van.
This is a set of photos of the removal and re seal.
I used a bed of mastic tape to sit it on but we also removed the winding metal frame as I also had a drip coming down the winding shaft. I also sat the frame on tape along with a new o ring.
