This hotel was one of my favorites during my recent trip to Nepal and Bhutan. Family-owned, an unmatched sense of place, and warm hospitality are just a few of the things that make it so special…

Welcome to Dwarika's Hotel!

On arrival, it's like stepping into an otherworldly oasis amidst the bustling city of Kathmandu. Immediately, I was greeted with Namaste, a traditional welcome scarf, a warm hand towel, and a delicious warm, welcome tea.

The smell of lemongrass delighted the senses, the birds were chirping, and the winter sunlight was streaming into the hotel and courtyard. It was bliss!

And if you love architecture and craftsmanship, you'll be blown away. Dwarika’s Hotel is written about as “walking into a living breathing museum, displaying Nepal’s best craftsmanship from the 13th century,” and it's so true! Its rooms and public areas are a reflection of medieval architectural traditions.

Hi from Bhutan 🇧🇹! If you’re looking for a destination that feels undiscovered and bursting with culture, this tiny kingdom is magical ✨.

Its geography (hello Himalayas 🏔️) has naturally kept it closed off from the rest of the world. Foreign visitors weren’t allowed until the 70’s (and in very small numbers), and since then tourism has been intentional and conscientious.

For her, a bucket-list trip to Europe with girl friends inspired her to apply for an international placement opportunity through her global accounting firm. Originally from Alabama, little did she know that her short-term placement in Auckland, New Zealand would forever change the course of her life and turn into something more permanent, a new home and a place where she would launch a new business to help others travel.
