Our hollow on Hiram Samples Branch road is just over the ridge from John Boys place. We always receive a friendly wave when he is out. He's a Vietnam veteran dealing with PTSD and some other health issues. His home has been a big part of his "treatment". Please don't judge him on the basis of his flag. He served our country and as a man in need deserves support.

Couple new cabin updates! Over the last few weeks we upgraded our kitchen pantry to a larger cabinet with pull out drawers. I can see the excitement on your face.

We've been getting larger groups (we can sleep up to 15) from all over the southeast, eastern seaboard and Midwest. So we added a new leather sofa and recliner. I added before and after pictures.

If you're looking for a secluded family getaway, remember our place. Extra bonus we are only 10 minutes from the home of The Trail Kitchen !! Home of WV's largest and best submarine sandwiches - where you decide what to pay (if you can).

This place is just magical. The property is gorgeous - views for days! J.R. and his family have provided every comfort and plenty of space to spread out. Our family is in OH and FL - this was a great area for us to meet for family time. We spent a lot of time rocking on the porch and gathering around the fire pit - just talking and enjoying being together. There was a lot of hiking, some fishing in the Elk River, enjoying the Clendenin Brewery, a great dinner at Bridge Road Bistro., etc. We met so many lovely neighbors when my d-i-l's dog "escaped" on our second night. Everyone in the "holler" helped look for him. J.R. even txtd several times to check in with us - such kind, caring people. Fortunately, the dog came back on his own on the 5th day as if he'd just been out for a stroll and he is fine! Our time here went by much too quickly. We didn't get it all done, but we have a list for next time! Thank you!!

We were privileged to host Thanksgiving for 3 different guests throughout October and November.

Turns out our place (30 minutes from Charleston, WV) is equal distance for families and groups spread from Philly to Florida to Michigan and Iowa.

If you're looking for a unique Christmas or New Years consider our log house. And we are taking Spring and Summer reservations!

From a sunny Friday morning to a pink Saturday morning. From blue skies and puffy clouds last night to a "misty mountain " evening tonight. If you look closely at the last picture there are three deer at the end of the meadow.

In between, we added a new dresser to one of the guest rooms and I delivered some pawpa's (West Virginia banana) to my cousin. Then since it was raining and muddy ( 😁) I drove the Jeep up the cutout road of the 4 acre mountain view we have listed for sale. Only problem was backing all the way out!!

Lastly we're getting our new sign ready to install on the gate. Our website is "Head of the Hollow Resort ".

While at the Indiana State Fair yesterday we had a sign made with our new logo. We named the cabin "Head of the Hollow Resort" and which is also our website for the property.
