The purpose of the Westover Wild Orca competitive swim program is to provide each and every swimmer with the opportunity to strive for excellence in competitive swimming. While each swimmer may begin his or her path at a different point along this road, we encourage swimmers at all levels to accept the challenges inherent in this wonderful sport. With goal-setting, motivation, confidence, handling

pressure, taking responsibility, maintaining health & fitness, enjoying family & friendships . . . Through this journey we hope to set the foundation for life-long enjoyment of what is one of the most wholesome and wonderful sports available. Of course, while coaches, parents & friends will provide a positive atmosphere in which respect for one another is modeled and acceptance of another's rights to participate is expected, it is ultimately the responsibility of each and every swimmer to help see that things are working on our team. Respect and positive support of one another and team unity are musts! We have a competent staff to teach and coach you swimmer(s). I believe our technical experience is sound. It will be one of our goals to help each swimmer acquire a healthy knowledge, and proficiency, in proper stroke technique. We will strive to nurture each and every swimmer, at any skill level, in a positive manner. We will act to provide a supportive & enjoyable environment within which each swimmer can experience the fun & excitement of the Westover Wild Orcas summer competitive swimming team. We all look forward to the life-long bonds shared with and between teammates, coaches, and families of Westover Wild Orcas. Orca swimmers, Orca families, Orca supporters and fans — Get your spirit caps on and get ready to rock & roll!

Some of you know Shaida as the tall friendly pediatrician who freely, willingly (and often!) on deck has shared with kindness, her medical knowledge, advice or assistance on everything from bee stings to fainting spells. Other may remember the tall, lovely, good-natured "Orca-ready-bench-mom-of-a-6-year-old" from last summer, who this summer, strong-armed her wheelchair (always with a smile) and fought just to access the pool deck in order to cheer on the Orcas.

Through too many chemo and other treatments she maintains that friendly inviting smile and a good word for everyone. Please see this link and help, if you are able, to rally around Shaida and her family.

Her treatment plan has included many cycles of chemo (

May 20th & 23rd. 1st meet of the season. We started the meet Saturday but had a rainout. Re-scheduled for Tuesday and then it hailed 30min before the meet. Can you believe it?! Redfish Meet Director kept her cool, the meet proceeded, and weather held out. Just goes to prove: if you don't like the weather in Texas just wait a Minute!
