‼️Good news to all JAPAN 🇯🇵 travelers!‼️
Japan will be lifted border restrictions starting March, where foreign students and business travelers will be allowed to enter except tourists.
Another important news for travelers, including Japanese and foreign residents, the shortening of the quarantine period from 7 days to 3 days.
✔️Who can enter Japan?
Foreigners currently not residing in Japan but have a sponsor. Tourists are still unable to enter.
Students, researchers, technical interns and business people may enter Japan are included. There are currently 147,000 visa-free students waiting to enter Japan.
For students and researchers, their universities are their sponsor while business people are their company.
✔️What should sponsors do?
They need to submit an application online but now they are no longer required to put activity plans where travelers will go and reside. The government will set up a call center to answer questions regarding the application procedure.
✔️Will there be more people who will be allowed to enter?
Yes, starting March 1, the number of people who can enter Japan will make 5,000 per day from 3,000.
This year's number includes Japanese nationals and foreign residents who will re-enter Japan including new entries.
According to businesses and universities, the number of 5,000. is enough.
✔️What if you are vaccinated?
The quarantine period can only be gone if you have received a booster shot and controlled omicron in the country of origin.
If you are not vaccinated or only received two shots, you will have to quarantine for three days in your own home or hotel as long as you are negative for the third day.
Approved vaccines are Pfizer, Modern and AstraZeneca.
The government will release an updated list of countries in Omicron hot spots on March 1.
✔️Is it possible to travel by local transportation from the airport?
Yes, this is a big change for those entering Japan.
For now, public transportation cannot be used to go home or to the quarantine location. The only option for now is to rent a car or pick up a family member.
But starting March 1, public transportation from the airport can be used.
✔️Is it necessary to submit a negative test result when entering Japan?
Yes, a negative COVID-19 result has to be shown 72 hours before departure to Japan.
