We came across this great tribute to some wounded and fallen MWDs and handlers the other day, created by Katie Barry "to honor the wounded and killed in action while my unit was in Afghanistan. The individual pictures hang on the veterinary clinic wall in Bagram. They've added to it since we left."

A flight attendant found out that the dog in the front row was a freshly retired Marine dog named Kiddy. "I made an announcement to congratulate her on her career," she wrote. "The cabin erupted into applause. The corporal [the dog] jumped onto the nearest lap to graciously accept."
We at Soldier Dogs applaud you, too, Kiddy! May you enjoy a happy life as a couch potato. You'll probably be sitting on it alertly more than snoozing on it for a while, though.

Thanks for never leaving a man behind, Lance Cpl. Kerr!
Kerr finished dead last in his age group at a Michigan 5K, choosing to run alongside a 9-year-old boy who asked "Sir, will you please run with me?" after he'd been separated from the group he'd started the race with. Kerr came in 5 seconds after the young boy.
