This 1930s postcard shows the Big Stone which Big Stone Trail, Bay and Creek are named for at Wilderness State Park.

Wilderness State Park is about 6 miles west of Mackinaw City. It has 26 miles of Lake Michigan shoreline, more than 20 miles of trails and is the largest state park in the Lower Peninsula.

Hollywood at The Leland Lodge: In August of 1995, #1 ranked show on ABC television, Home Improvement, spent a week filming at The Leland Lodge. Starring Leelanau County summer resident Tim Allen, the show’s plot involved the Taylor family traveling Up North for a wedding at The Lodge, but Tim and the boys seemed more interested in enjoying the numerous outdoor activities in the Leland area. The show aired on September 19, 1995, the season premier, watched by an estimated 20,000,000 viewers - a number surpassed that week only by Seinfeld, and Friends. That Home Improvement episode, named “A Taylor Runs Through It”, can still be watched with this link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p5ZStw4KJWc

🌌 And the skies lit up the night! What a crazy and inspiring display of Aurora - not much sleep last night, that's for sure. 😍✨ Leelanau State Park and the Grand Traverse Lighthouse were in full northern lights swing! 🏞️🌠 Look forward to seeing the array of images from last night. A lot going on in those skies!

We are a professional couple who fell in love with the Leelanau Peninsula. We enjoy hiking with our dog, Jacques, biking, kayaking, wine tasting, and the picture-perfect sunrises and sunsets. Harbormaster is a prime location to experience all of this and more. It is our pleasure to share Harbormaster with new guests and returning guests. We go above and beyond to make sure everyone experiences the splendor that is the Leelanau Peninsula.
