Universal Orlando Resort announced Thursday morning that its highly anticipated new theme park, Epic Universe, will open on May 22, 2025, just before Memorial Day weekend.
The new park will be the largest of three theme parks at the resort, part of a 750-acre development that will more than double the size of Universal’s footprint in Orlando. The property currently consists of two theme parks and one water park.
This new park, Epic Universe, will consist of five “worlds”: The Wizarding World of Harry Potter: Ministry of Magic; Super Nintendo World; How to Train Your Dragon: Isle of Berk; Dark Universe and Celestial Park.
Guests will enter Epic Universe through Celestial Park, which will feature a carousel, a roller coaster, shops, restaurants, and access points to the four other themed worlds.
The Wizarding World of Harry Potter: Ministry of Magic will expand the beloved franchise, blending the ambiance of 1920s Paris—where much of the Fantastic Beasts series is set—with the 1990s British Ministry, where renowned Hogwarts students faced Voldemort. A new attraction, “Battle at the Ministry,” will allow guests to step into the Ministry's atrium via the Floo Network, joining Harry, Ron, and Hermione in an omnidirectional lift while dodging Death Eater attacks.
Universal's existing Harry Potter attractions include Hogsmeade at Islands of Adventure and Diagon Alley at Universal Studios.
Super Nintendo World will echo the recently opened areas at Universal Studios Hollywood and Universal Studios Japan, featuring attractions like “Bowser’s Challenge” and “Mine-Cart Madness with Donkey Kong.”
How to Train Your Dragon will offer a Viking village, a family roller coaster called “Hiccup’s Wing Gliders,” a water ride, and a live show.
Dark Universe will immerse guests in a mysterious realm, with the attraction “Monsters Unchained: The Frankenstein Experiment,” placing them at the center of a monster uprising.
In the months leading up to the park's opening, additional ticket options, including single-day tickets for the public, will be available.
On the same day, a new 500-room hotel, the Universal Helios Grand Hotel, will open, featuring Universal’s first dedicated theme park entrance for hotel guests. Two additional hotels are also set to debut nearby before the park opens.
