Our moral was low the past 2 weeks 😔

- My family lost our beloved ‘Bonmaman’ and her sister due to Covid-19, may they R.I.P. 🙌🏼

- The weather sucked big time 🌦🌬

- Policia and Guardia Civil were on our asses every time we stepped out of the house👮🏼‍♀️💩

- No motivation to do anything but sleep and chill 😴

- Car troubles (nothing to really worry about) 🚘💧

☀️The weather forecast the next two weeks looks promising though, we’re counting on the sun to boosts our spirits ☀️

We go into phase 1️⃣ of exit lockdown on the 4th of May, which means getting out of the house will be allowed again 🥳

Plan 🅰️ : hit the mountains 🚵‍♂️

🚵🏻‍♂️ Rwanda is MTB heaven because 🚵🏾‍♂️

- it is the land of a thousand hills🌋

- accessible (dirt) roads and single tracks EVERYWHERE

- responsible tourism was chosen by a stable gouvernement 🥇

- the safety is 💯 %

- no mass tourism

- you’re a 💁🏼‍♂️muzungu 💁🏼‍♂️so you’re never alone

- the visitrwanda.com website is magnificent 👌🏻😂

OVERLAND PROOF - PART 1

“ Green Card “

To make the TLC a trustworthy overlander, still a lot of work had to be done 🛠

First up was passing the belgian vehicle inspection as the TLC failed due to rusty parts on the chassis. Positive side was it lowered the price of the car and as I got to do the sanding and cleaning (which takes a lot of time) mostly myself, I managed to save a lot of money 💶

👊🏻 Respect for people who do this every day cause this is HARD LABOUR 💪🏻

People who know me well will confirm I do my research thoroughly, loving to scour the internet for hours. Unfortunately even Dr. Google has its limitations providing me no technical or practical skills whatsoever.

Revealing my plans to Fritz Gallein, he advised me to participate in the 🇱🇺 Amsterdam - Dakar challenge 🇸🇳 as a great step up to the real deal.

A visit to T3 Busjes / Garage Tom Laureyns paid of really well as he was eager to join me on this rally and he had just bought an VW T4 1.9D, the perfect car to tackle this adventure.

It turned out to be the an epic +8000km trip with our 2-wheel drive VW T4 effortlessly conquering mountains and ploughing through the desert as if it was one big playground, often showing 4x4 how it’s done.

A sprint through Europe with pitstops in Zürich, Monaco and Barcelona so we’d get to enjoy our first hideaway at Costa Del Sol for a week before moving on to Africa.

Who knew Co-vid19 would turn it to at least 5 weeks?!?⁠

We feel BLESSED to be safe and sound in a lovely surrounding with abundance of food, water, medication and wifi 🙌🏼⁠

🇪🇸Even though s**t has hit the fan in Spain, we decided to spend the lockdown here instead of heading back to our apartments in Belgium 🇧🇪⁠

💻 Finally some time to get this social media thing up and running 📱⁠
