An alternative vacation experience
It all started with the need to renovate a very, very old family house and turn it into our summer destination for the years to come. It was a two-storey house that dates back on the 18th century, located in Platanos, the capital of Leros island in beautiful Greece.
At first it was a big challenge. Everything seemed so difficult because the house was really old and damaged but as the renovation was progressing, we were falling in love with it.. We did our best to combine the tradition with the convenience of a modern house but in some cases we kept the unique identity of the house. We wanted to maintain its authenticity..and the result is still making us proud..
A little after the renovation was over, we were surprised to receive several requests from friends who were asking if we would rent them our house the days we were not planning to be there. This was the start for us. The feedback we were getting during and after each stay was a big boost and the main reason we decided to let more people have a taste of this unique property of 1800’s.
Local stone on the walls, oversized stone tiles from Malta on the ground floor, Italian tiles on the porches, traditional internal oven in the kitchen..These are some things we decided to keep “alive” almost 200 years later and gently combined them with handmade lights and electricity switches made of brass, Aegean style raised bed, wooden floor and ceiling, traditional Lerian decoration and many other facilities that our “modern” time commands, such as solar water heater, WiFi, A/C, TV, new fully equipped kitchen, washing machine.
