During our Maldives trip this November we will be visiting the vast Marine Protected Area (and Whale Shark hotspot) of Alifu Ahaalu (South Ari) Attol where we will do the best ocean swim I have ever done (a lap of Ariadhoo Island). That will be just one of the many highlights from our time cruising and swimming in this bucket list destination.

Great people make great Ocean Swim Holidays! This morning I was the only guest at keen to head out on their charter so after a quick frolic with a Manta Ray (amazing) I let the captain (pictured in his fine new cap) know that I was keen to do a decent ocean swim (obviously). I suspected a lap of Ariadhoo Island could be pretty special but I had no idea that it would become my all time favourite ocean swim! It literally had everything (in my opinion) that makes up a dream stroking session. A pretty island to circumnavigate (3km is the sweet spot for me), crystal clear warm water FULL of sea life, and spectacular coral reefs dropping into the deep blue. Specific highlights were the gentle rolling swells ocean side with loads of beautiful small sharks (black tipped and white tipped reef sharks), the turtles along the channel side (in between Maamigili) one of which paced me for about 500m, and the unbelievable abundance of stunning tropical fish all the way around. Last but not least after planning on staying put to mark the finish point it was reassuring to see that this little legend had decided to follow me around in his boat. DEFINITELY a swim for our soon to be launched (1 January) Ocean Swim Holidays in The Maldives! 💙

Plans are well under way to make our 2025 trips even better and get us all to the first group meal smiling and excited about the coming days. This year the beautiful family from joined us for the yummy food and cold drinks at the Blue Lagoon Restaurant and Bar.

Some more shots from the first couple of days of our second week here in Aitutaki. Everyone is having a great time including me! We have had 2 surprise/bonus encounters with Humpback Whales already but the plan is to swim with them properly in the morning. A special shout out to swimmers from the who are a great laugh.

Packing your own lunch or having yummy BBQ yellow fin tuna and fresh salads prepared for you? I am no genius but I think I know what most people would prefer.
