New travel rules and some reminders for 2025!🚨

1. After much debate, Carnival has instituted a ban on Bluetooth speakers onboard. You can still listen to music using other devices.

2. In addition to power strips and surge protectors, which are banned by all cruise lines, Royal Caribbean has taken it a step further and banned all multi-plug outlets. A workaround for this is to take a USB outlet. If you have a medical need, have your travel agent speak to RC for an exemption.

3. This one isn't new, but many of the Caribbean islands ban camouflage. This means no camouflage patterns of any kind, including those on swimsuits or bags.

4. Drones are banned on Norwegian and very much frowned upon on other lines. For example, Carnival only allows their use in port away from the ship. Check with your cruise line before leaving to see their particular rules (or ask your agent! 😊).

Do you have a favorite travel souvenir? It's hard to pick, but for me, it's probably this one.

Our very first cruise took us to Nassau, and as we perused the old straw market, I saw this and just had to get it. The "stone" is sea glass of the same otherworldly blue as the deep Caribbean sea. I fell in love with that water, and every time I miss it (which is a lot!) I can at least wear this and remember. 💙

I was so sad to miss last year, but I am so HAPPY to announce that this year I will have a table at Authorcon V! 🥳

For those that don't know, Authorcon is a literary convention hosted by the charity, Scares that Care each year. This amazing organization has raised, to date, over $300,000 donated directly to families and organizations of those suffering from severe illness and injury.

This charity is near and dear to my heart, and you won't find a kinder and more caring group of people. This is why I will be giving a percentage of any sales I make at or as a result of the convention directly to the charity. 💜💚

Did you know? 🧐

Certain commonly prescribed medications, like Adderall, are prohibited in Japan. Even some over-the-counter medications can cause you problems at customs.

This is why it is so important to know ahead of time the rules and restrictions that apply to the particular destinations you're traveling to. The State Department's website is very useful for this kind of information, and you can always ask your friendly neighborhood travel agent for help! 😊

Important Travel Information! 🚨

If you haven't already, now is the time to get your REAL ID set up! The deadline to do so is May 7, 2025. After that, you will not be able to board any domestic flights without it.

I strongly suggest doing this now, as there will be a big rush in the spring of people trying to get theirs before their summer travel plans start. We did it last year when we were renewing our licenses, and it was a very straightforward process.

I don't know about you, but this year is just flying by for me. Thanksgiving is just around the corner, and before you know it, it will be Christmas! 🎄

That means that now is a great time to start planning your holiday getaways! Last year, my husband, and I celebrated a merry "cruisemas," and I can't tell you how wonderful it was to spend that time away, disconnected from all of our worries. It also gave us some much needed time in the sun ☀️ which made the winter seem so much shorter.

Big Flight Changes! ✈️

The Department of Transportation has instituted some new consumer-friendly rules for the airlines that you need to know about!

Under the new policy, passengers will receive a refund if their flight is canceled or significantly changed, and they do not accept alternative transportation or travel credits offered.

According to the DOT, a "significant change" is defined as a situation where a flight's departure or arrival time is altered by more than three hours domestically and six hours internationally. There are a few other cases that are defined as "significant changes" as well.
