I don't know about you, but this year is just flying by for me. Thanksgiving is just around the corner, and before you know it, it will be Christmas! 🎄

That means that now is a great time to start planning your holiday getaways! Last year, my husband, and I celebrated a merry "cruisemas," and I can't tell you how wonderful it was to spend that time away, disconnected from all of our worries. It also gave us some much needed time in the sun ☀️ which made the winter seem so much shorter.

Big Flight Changes! ✈️

The Department of Transportation has instituted some new consumer-friendly rules for the airlines that you need to know about!

Under the new policy, passengers will receive a refund if their flight is canceled or significantly changed, and they do not accept alternative transportation or travel credits offered.

According to the DOT, a "significant change" is defined as a situation where a flight's departure or arrival time is altered by more than three hours domestically and six hours internationally. There are a few other cases that are defined as "significant changes" as well.

Formal Night!

Many cruise lines have a designated formal night during which guests who want to dine in the main dining room are encouraged to dress in formal wear. Some go all the way with this (I've seen full on Cinderella-style ball gowns!) while others just wear their "Sunday best." Still others don't want to bother with getting fancy on their vacation and avoid the whole thing altogether!

Cruise ducks! 🦆

For those who don't know, there is a tradition on cruise ships of hiding small rubber ducks all over the ship for others to find. If you find a duck, it's up to you to either leave it, rehide it somewhere else, or keep it. This is a big part of the fun of cruising for many with some showing up with bags dedicated to just ducks!

Believe it or not, this sparkly guy was the first one we'd ever found! For that reason, we decided to keep it, but any others we'll leave behind.

When I'm not cruising, one of the things I love to do for a fun weekend is thrift store shopping. Here in Fredericksburg, we have a lot of really interesting antique and thrift stores where I've found all sorts of treasures.

This commemorative coin has to be one of my favorite finds! This ship had a long history before it made its final voyage in 2014, but from 1977 - 1991, it was Norwegian Cruise Line's Sunward II sailing the Caribbean. (Can you tell I'm a ship nerd? 😉)

I didn't have the opportunity to cruise till adulthood, so I'm fascinated to learn what cruising was like in the past. Do any of you have fun cruising stories from your past to share?

Today I am celebrating my first official year as a travel agent! It's been an amazing year of learning about the world of travel and serving my clients. It makes me so happy to see the beautiful pictures and hear the stories from trips I helped to set up.
