KING ARTHUR’S ROUND TABLE IN SCOTLAND?

Could the legendary round table of King Arthur and his knights be in Scotland? Some archaeologists and researchers believe the answer is in fact, yes. The site in question rests just beneath the iconic Stirling Castle in the Royal gardens. Vast intricate earthworks cover the grounds. The one particular area that lends itself to the possibility of being the round table is known as the “Kings Knot.” While it’s believed that the present earthworks were constructed around 1620, geophysical technology tells us that the current earthworks were constructed on top of a much older site. This central circular ditch and mound beneath the surface yields multi-period construction dates as early as the Iron Age. Arthur Mac Aedan, a 6th century prince and Scottish war leader very well may have been the man behind the King Arthur legends. Many historical documents confirm that King Arthur’s round table was known to be in the area. In 1375, Scottish poet John Barbour claimed that “the round table” was south of Stirling Castle, and in 1478 William of Worcester told how “King Arthur kept the Round Table at Stirling Castle”. ⚔️
