HERE ARE ALL THE DISNEYLAND DETAILS

As announced, Disneyland park and Disney California Adventure park plan to reopen on April 30, with limited capacity! With this exciting news, we know you are eager to get back to the magic, and likely have questions about your next visit.

When we reopen our two theme parks, we will have enhanced health and safety measures, and will limit capacity through a new theme park reservation system that requires all guests to obtain a reservation for park entry in advance. Theme park reservations will be available online, in advance only, for a specific date, subject to availability.

Here’s some important information to help you plan ahead:

Theme Park Reservations: To enter Disneyland park or Disney California Adventure park, both a theme park reservation and valid admission ticket for the same park on the same date are required for guests ages 3 and up. Guests must have a valid theme park admission ticket in order to make a reservation. Theme park reservations will be limited and subject to availability and, until further notice, only California residents may visit the parks, and in groups no larger than 3 households, in line with current state guidelines.

The theme park reservation system will launch on April 12, and guests with existing valid theme park tickets can begin making park reservations for the days that their ticket is valid. Theme park ticket sales will resume on April 15, and guests without park tickets may begin purchasing tickets and making park reservations. As a reminder, ticket expiration dates were extended for many outstanding tickets. To accommodate as many types of ticket holders as possible, park reservations for select dates may be made available on a rolling basis. Ticket calendars will be updated on a rolling basis. Check for updated availability.

Here are some key dates to remember:

April 9: If you currently hold a theme park ticket, you can check available days for your 1-day ticket type beginning April 9

April 12: The theme park reservation system will open no earlier than 8 a.m. PT on April 12 and guests who already have valid theme park tickets may begin making park reservations.
April 15: Theme park ticket sales will resume no earlier than 8 a.m. PT on April 15, and guests without park tickets may begin purchasing tickets and making park reservations.

The CDC has updated their guidance to reflect that fully vaccinated Americans can travel domestically without testing and/or quarantine. The guidance also states masks must still be worn, and social distancing must still be maintained.

This guidance does not:

1. Lift the federal order requiring masks on interstate travel (planes and trains)
2. Lift the federal order requiring negative tests for air passengers entering the US.
3. Supersede any local requirement for testing or quarantining. (In other words, any US location requiring a negative test or quarantine upon arrival which at this point still includes Hawaii. This also includes what cruise lines have resumed sailing).

That said, this is GOOD NEWS. A return to normal is coming.

My husband laughs at me (he thinks I’m way too urban to love it) when I say I want to do the Wyoming Adventures by Disney itinerary. But this is exactly why. My camera wants to go there too, so it’s a done deal.

I was going through old photos and came across this one and it just made me smile and took me on a lovely little bit of wistful nostalgia for my first season with Adventures by Disney.

I remember being confused as to why we had a Wyoming tour. Italy, Costa Rica, London/Paris, all of these made sense to me. But Wyoming? Seriously? And then I went there to guide a trip and learned that I was an idiot. Wow. Just....WOW. That old adage about going around the world without looking in your own backyard is totally true. How had I missed this place? Why had I never been to this state???

I think I've had the same experience as many people. Growing up was in mostly urban or suburban environments. Sure we went camping and there were parks to play in and greenery in our neighborhood and all that but nothing like what I saw there. I guess I thought the frontier was something that was firmly in the past, left with Billy the Kid and Annie Oakley and all that. But no, the frontier is still out there and it is wild and it is amazing and it is gorgeous. I felt like I had been holding my breath my whole life and never realized it until I stood there with all that space around me, all that natural beauty, and exhaled. I could feel my shoulders go down and for the first time in my life I understood what it was to have my soul sing.

You can't take a bad picture, everywhere you look is stunning. But the best ones are taken with the lens of your eye and stored in the memory of your mind. Getting to see all that natural beauty was so wonderful, being in such a different environment was beyond any adjective I could use. Getting to try huckleberries (sort of like a blueberry but not quite), getting snowed on in August (we made a tiny Mickey snowman!), seeing just how big a moose really is (BIG), hearing the roar of a waterfall, feeling small patches of heat as we hiked along a sun-dappled path in the woods, getting to experience the craziness of Old Faithful erupting and feeling the rumble in your chest from the vibrations, looking at the disco colors of Grand Prismatic (like nature's own photo filter), and seeing the stars, so very very many stars, more stars than sky it almost seemed like. The more you stare the more you see until the entire night sky is filled with diamond dust the likes of which cannot be seen in most of the world. And taking a moment to sit in the stillness, looking out over Brooks Lake, feeling like this moment can't be real. Like being a part of nature's screensaver.

Travel is an education but we don't always need to go far to learn a lesson. Sometimes the most important things we can experience are no further than our own metaphorical backyard.

On Tuesday the CDC announced that travelers entering the US by plane would need a negative COVID test taken within 3 days to board. Vaccination will not exempt you but proof of recovery from COVID-19 within 90 days will. The rule will go into effect in January 26.

We’ve seen how well the negative test requirement has worked for the state of Hawaii, and I think this is a positive step towards making travel safe again.

That said, it will be a logistical undertaking for vacationers. We are already beginning to see some of our trusted resort partners step up to provide testing options for guests. BREAKING NEWS **Disneyland Resort to sunset annual pass holder program **

While this is sad news, it’s not altogether unexpected. We will get through this pandemic, but changes to our beloved parks will come with our “new normal”. I feel hopeful and reasonably confident that Disney will create a membership-like opportunity for us avid local fans when they reopen, but booking a vacation package with resort stay and multi-day tickets may be a good alternative to day trips throughout the year. When that time comes I’ll be sure to share the opportunities here and look forward to helping people plan magical Disney vacations.
