Passed the local street library and found a book about one of my favorite women: the Maiden of Ludmir. A women who behaved like a Rebbe in a time and place that wasn't ready for it. And an inspiration for Ansky and Singer. If you want to hear her story, be in touch for a tour to her tomb in the Mount of Olives. Or read the book.

Together with the Bakaa Community Center, I am continuing to explore Jerusalem's neighborhoods. This time we walked around the area of Straus Street and found a British Mandate street sign, art from the Bezalel School, a Muslim mausoleum turned into a Jewish pilgrim site, discovered an authentic Ashkenazi bakery, talked about demographic change and visited the first national library. Yesterday I guided tourists. I felt ridiculously happy to once again walk thru the market (even though it was empty), listen to Armenian orthodox chant, climb the roof tops, tell about 3000 years of history in the Jewish quarter and question David's Tomb on Mt Zion. On Halloween, which was the darkest night of the month, just before Rosh Chodesh Marcheshvan, we headed out for a spooky tour! We looked for Moshe Montefiore's ghost and talked about St Andrew's skull by the eerie highland castle known as the Scottish Church. We descended into hell and ascended to My Zion in search of King David's tomb- or at least a secret passage leading to it. The chagim are over but there is still something to look forward to! On Thursday October 31, I will be leading a 👻👻GHOST TOUR 👻👻 in the dark Jerusalem night. We will start in Yemin Moshe and walk via Kettef Hinom down to the Valley of Hell. We will continue through a tunnel up to Mt Zion- the back yard of the Old City with plenty of spooky potential! Sighting of ghosts not guaranteed but great stories are.

I checked the location of the shelters and headed out for a tour of the German Colony. It was as lovely as ever, a 150-year old German village in the heart of modern Jerusalem. I chatted with the sisters at St Charles Borromeo. Also they are lacking foreign visitors. So with flights abroad cancelled: book a tour of a Jerusalem neighborhood with me and a night at St Charles German Hospice!
