Had the chance to visit some new “neighbors” today. Domaine Willamette officially opened since the last time I was here and is just a 5 minute drive down the street from the Cloud Wine Cottage. We had been been watching them build it this year and it’s exciting to see how nice it turned out. Set on the side of the hill it offers stunning views with cascading water features.

Many wineries don’t provide meal options but Domaine Willamette has a pretty elaborate food menu with recommended wine pairings for most of it. The Dungeness Crab Cakes were great! If you’re planning on multiple wineries in a day, this is a good first stop for lunch.

The wines feature vineyards from a variety of areas in the PNW and give you a broad glimpse of what this region is capable of creating. Throughout the tasting I noticed many different labels with a story for each and I told my host Natalie that they felt like the of wine. You can tell they focus more on the stories of the wines than the nitty gritty details and I think this is a good move.

From the glass to the tasting room the experience is very elegant. My favorite on the flight was the 2017 Pamprun Chrysologue. It had a beautiful nose with spice and perfect balance all the way to the finish. It had a subtle herbaceous note that I really liked.

Ran into a few of these friends while on my morning walk at the Cloud Wine Cottage today. Dundee is in the middle of Oregon wine country and also far enough away from the big cities that you get to enjoy the beauty of nature in the PNW.
