"Yeah, campgrounds work but nothing beats going out into the wilderness and finding a beautiful place to boondock 🌎🌿⛰

Campgrounds are great on occasion but for the majority of the time, we will go out of our way to find dispersed camping areas 🏕 The road to get to these kinds of spots are usually dirt or gravel and sometimes sketchy but they’re always worth the trip. Our favorite apps to use to find free camping are: ioverlander freeroamhq , and sekr.official 🗺

We’ve got our entire off-grid home with us wherever we go so it doesn’t make sense for us to spend $20-$30 on a campground 🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏼‍♂️ We love the solitude that boondocking brings. The views always seem to be better too 😍 "

Cutting off access to the cab is a heavily debated topic when planning a van build. Here's a breakdown of a few pros/cons of a divider wall:

PROS:
✅ Traps hot air in the cab
✅ Safety: can still access the cab via a small door
✅ More wall space for storage

CONS:
❌ Can't swivel front seats to create seating in the back
❌ Harder to access the cab
❌ Cuts your van into 2 "sections"

Lauren & Jon got creative with their countertops - what looks like marble is actually... plywood! 🤯⁠

They used waterproof vinyl contact paper (and it looks amazing!) on top which is much cheaper & lighter than actual marble, plus it's easier to clean!.

🚐 Let's talk camper van insurance, an essential van life topic (although not the most exciting one).

Did you know that a normal auto insurance policy typically doesn't cover the inside of your van conversion? If you were to get into an accident or somehow total your van, only the vehicle itself would be covered, not all the hard-earned money you spent on the conversion.

If you plan on investing in a professional van conversion, do your research and you may find that the smartest option is to get RV insurance. I've had Progressive RV insurance for the last 5 years, ever since I got my first van, and I have coverage for the total replacement value of my converted van. That means, if my van was somehow totaled, I could take the insurance payout and completely replace it with another fully converted one.

Since insurance can be a confusing topic, we've partnered with Progressive to share more about what RV insurance covers and things to be aware of as you are choosing a policy for your van.
