The Sicilian fishing village of Aci Trezza is famous for several reasons: for the huge black rocks that the cyclops Polyphemos is said to have once hurled at Odysseus, as the inspiration of Verga's famous book I Malavoglia and then as the setting of Visconti's film adaptation, La Terra Trema, which used residents of the village as actors. Well worth a visit, then!
