A NEW HIGH SCHOOL TO BE BUILT IN ST HELENA BAY

I am pleased to announce that in yesterday's Council meeting, the Saldanha Bay Municipal Council unanimously approved item R15/10-24 to waive development charges for the construction of a new High School in Laingville, St Helena Bay.

This long-awaited victory follows an almost 5-year process of dogged persistence by the Saldanha Bay Municipal Council to highlight and press upon authorities the dire need of a high school for the town of St Helena Bay.

As the Executive Mayor of Saldanha Bay Municipality and on behalf of Council, I am incredibly delighted about this new High School. It will bring renewed hope to our residents who will no longer have to face the prospect of sending their children away to neighboring towns for higher education.

My sincere gratitude goes out to the Councillors as well as the Administration of SBM who persisted, working tirelessly, to make this dream a reality. Hopefully this is the first of many schools to follow.

The school is estimated to accommodate +- 1120 learners.

Private whirlpool bath and pool

This is a fully furnished unit that can accommodate 4 guests. The cottage offers 2 comfortable bedrooms with double beds. Both bedrooms have wall-mounted fans, wardrobes, and bedside tables with lamps. There is a lovely-sized bathroom with a shower and all linen is provided, as well as towels for the whirlpool bath.

There is an open-plan, fully-fitted kitchen, with a fridge freezer, stove, and oven. There is also an old black Dover stove situated in the very large fireplace that is fully functional as well as an open-plan living area with a TV and full DSTV.

The whirlpool bath is on the entertainment deck with a braai, tables, and chairs. It offers amazing views of the bay and harbour. You can relax and cool off in the sparkling swimming pool, which is reserved for the guests of this unit only.

There is a cleaning service which is provided 3 times per week for long stays, more than 7 days, (excluding public holidays) and St Helena Bay now has 2 laundromats.

Other activities in St Helena Bay area include the De Gama Monument, the West Coast wildflowers, best in August and September, and the fishing harbour where you can buy fresh fish or barter for a snoek (in season). Trips on kayaks and fishing charters can also be arranged by contacting 067 883 0077. Surrounding towns are Paternoster, Velddrift, Saldanha, and Langebaan.

Wooden cabin with private whirlpool bath

A fully furnished, beautiful wooden cabin that can accommodate 6 guests. The cabin offers 3 comfortable bedrooms, 2 with double beds, and 1 with 2 single beds. All bedrooms have plenty of cupboard space and fans. There is a great size bathroom, with a lovely large corner bath, fitted with a shower attachment, and for those romantically inclined, there are dimmer lights. All linen is provided, just bring along your own beach towels.

The open-plan, fully fitted kitchen features a fridge with freezer, microwave, stove, and oven, and a 6-seater center table. The open-plan, inviting living area has a TV with full DSTV and a jet master fireplace for those cosy winter days and nights. This opens onto a large entertainment decking area with a built-in braai and a whirlpool bath to relax in.

Last week before back to school special!

St Helena Bay

The house comprises 3 bedrooms and can accommodate up to 8 guests at a time. The main bedroom is situated upstairs and has a king-size bed. The second bedroom is also located upstairs and has a double bed and private balcony. These two bedrooms share a bathroom with shower, basin and toilet. The third bedroom is a revamped garage that is located downstairs and has a tri-bunk bed and single bed. The second bathroom is located downstairs with a shower, bath, toilet and basin.

The kitchen is equipped with a stove, oven, fridge-freezer, microwave, coffee- and tea-making facilities, dishwasher, crockery and cutlery. It also features a large indoor braai.

The lounge has comfortable couches, including a single sleeper couch, as well as a TV with DStv and a dining area with ample seating where guests can enjoy their meals together. It also features a foosball table for entertainment.

The living area opens through large, tinted stack doors to a covered braai area. The back yard is fully enclosed.

Guests are afforded secure parking on the premises.

Beautiful European-style cottage for 4 in St Helena Bay special for the weekend of 2 to 4 February for only R1050 per night.

This lovely 1 bedroom 1 bathroom self-catering apartment is a jewel in the lovely west coast town of St Helena Bay.
The cottage welcomes its guests to a protected front porch with a barbecue at the entrance which has easy access to luxurious open-plan living which includes a kitchenette and dining area. Here one also finds a daybed which serves as a couch or extra bed for the third wheel or little ones. The Businessperson who needs to get work done is also provided with access to Wi-Fi and a separate table and chair for use as a desk.

The living area leads into a plush bedroom with a quality queen-sized bed and ample space for luggage or a camping cot. The en-suite bathroom caters for all one’s needs and includes a spacious shower and bath.

Off-street parking is available and the cottage has all the comforts needed to make one feel right at home. This includes Wi-Fi, TV, Microwave with grill, Refrigerator, gas stove with electric oven, cooker hood and both a gas and an electrical kettle. The Living area, bedroom and bathroom are all fitted with power-saving bulbs.

The cottage generally sleeps 2 adults but can accommodate 3. A maximum of 2 accompanying toddlers/children and or babies. Regretfully no pets are allowed.
