Kanazawa’s most well-known stroll garden Kenrokuen is one of the top three famous gardens in Japan. It is located next to Kanazawa Castle. It has taken 180 years to complete the construction of the stroll garden. Kenrokuen has earned its name for having all six major traits a highly-developed garden should possess, that are: grand, tranquil and deep, manual labor, ancient, water fountain and an overlooking spot. There are more than 5000 plants, small bridges, waterfalls and stone lanterns in the garden. The scenery changes over the four seasons, and the most famous scene is the winter snow strings, regarded as winter’s scenery poetry of Hokuriku.
