I really need your help!!! Life's a funny old dog. Last Tuesday, March 11, my girlfriend fell off a horse in Costa Rica during a once in a lifetime trip with a childhood friend. She broke her hip and her wrist and is finally arriving back in the states a week later.
As ,many of you know my Christmas present was a hernia, This girl gave up her Christmas to see me through the emeergency operation (Many thanks to Edward Morrison and T Parker!). Years ago, she flew against a hurricane to see me out of a coma.
Once she spends a week in Portland through surgeries and recoveries, she has a four to six week recuperation period which is where I come in. She lives out in the middle of the country and will need constant care. However, I need the money to live up there. I need to cover all my expenses here, as well as the myriad hospital bills I have managed to accumulate in the past couple of years.
Earlier this year Hidden Music Productions released Dusk: A Magical History Tour Revisited which commemorates the 25th anniversary of its original release. Although much of the body of the original remains, we re-edited, re-wrote, updated and added some scenes. There's even a surprise ending! We were slowly coming back from that, making inroads where we wanted to go, when her accident happened.
I am asking you to download and watch Dusk. Furthermore, I am asking you to comment on it and share your thoughts and the site. In order for this work, I am going to ask as many people participate as possible. I love this girl more than life itself. Please go spend an hour unlike any you have spent while helping us.
Thank you. I hope you find it brave and splendid.

Frank Carlier's Christmas Eve in Afghanistan, A Nontraditional Charleston Tradition - The...

This might be one of the most poignant interviews our network has ever featured.
CTTN is proud to convey the American debut of Frank Cartier's moving song, "Christmas Eve in Afghanistan." He sits down with Joy Sanders to discuss why and his thought process in his rising career.
Listen to the song. Watch the interview. For many, it will add another layer of gratitude for our friends, family and a spectacular Lowcountry Christmas Eve.
Also, David Farrow reads a portion of his column he shares with Charles Waring in the Charleston Mercury.
All to say "Peace on Earth, Good Will Towards Men."

“But you don’t sound like you’re from Charleston.”
“Have you ever been there?”
“No.”
“Then, how would you know?”
Explaining Southern women to no-less an authority than a Southern male is akin trying to explain a coffee maker to a dog. Why not let them explain themselves… bless their hearts.

Because history doesn't repeat itself...but it certainly rhymes.

Charleston Mercury > News > Tales of Tennessee Williams at Spoleto

Probably the coolest time I had was interviewing famous actors, directors and producers. I would say that 98 percent of these people were down to earth and good people.

And then, there was Tennessee Williams.

85 Tradd Street « Davidfarrow’s Weblog

i mention this house a lot on tour. the reason is not that the domicile is particularly significant. it's because, when it was built on Tradd four doors west of King, it was built so the owner would have access to the creek behind the house.
here's the history;

The house at 85 Tradd Street is one of the most unique and attractive homes in the city of Charleston with the least amount of secondary historical information. There is no mention of it in the guidebook for tour guides. It has not been featured in the column “Do You Know Your Charleston” which has appeared sporadically in The News and Courier for scores of years. Jonathan Poston made no mention of the house in his inventory of important Charleston houses, thus the history lies deep in the archives.
Ironically, in a Sunday edition of the News and Courier/Evening Post article dated October 7, 1979, an article detailing the important properties on the peninsula number 85 Tradd is listed as “excellent.”
A cursory view of the primary records shows little more information on the house.
This much is known: http://davidfarrow.wordpress.com/2010/03/27/85-tradd-street/

Louisa Green Fisher; On my first day at Palmetto Carriage Works , the former mgr. tried to scare me away from working there by tasking me to clean stalls (puh-leez, I ride horses...) and tar the stable roof leaks (the old Perlstine warehouse). I asked for a short break so I could don a halter top. I had a debutante party that night and did not want the tan lines...
