I certainly don’t do what I do for gifts or accolades (although I do appreciate when you tell your friends & family about me 😉). I plan trips because it’s something that I love & I love sharing that passion with others & helping to make their dreams a reality!

Magicband+ Review: Great in theory, not so much in reality!

Disney released the new Magicband+ back in July. The new band is a little larger than the older version (more the size of an Apple Watch) & it’s rechargeable. It has the same capabilities as the old one - you can it for resort room entry, park entry & to make purchases. It also has some new features as well - it lights up, vibrates, & is *supposed* to allow you to interact with the 50th Anniversary gold statues throughout the parks & find virtual bounties in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. These bands are $44.99 on shopDisney & at Disney resorts (the special pre-arrival price is $34.99 through the MDE app) compared to $19.99 for the old style.

You pair you Magicband+ to the MDE app, just like before, but the band has to be paired with your phone’s Bluetooth to be fully functional. Once paired, it *should* do all the things mentioned above. You *should* also be able to see it’s battery life.

Why do I keep saying *should*?? Because my band was connected, updated, & paired & it NEVER worked…not once during the whole trip. The bands do not come with an incredible amount of instructional information so when we weren’t able to get them to work the first night, I thought maybe it was user error. The kids’ bands would vibrate when they got close to a statue but that was about it. A another guest at the park told us we had to point our bands at the statue & shake our wrists really fast. We did that, but all we got out of it was strange looks from passers by.

I went back to the resort that night & did some research but all I found out was, to interact with the statues all you have to do is “wave like you would wave at a friend.” I checked our band settings & apparently, mine had come unpaired & the kids were not paired. I had a lot of trouble re-pairing mine but the kids’ bands paired pretty easily. Even with my paired though, I never could see my battery life & I was unable to change my settings so that band would interact in the parks (swipe through the pictures to see what my band showed in the app vs what the kids’ bands showed). The kids’ bands did work better but it was still hit-or-miss with the statues. Sometimes they worked right away, sometimes it took several (& I mean several) tries for them to work.

Overall, for us, they were more frustration than they were worth. I’m also curious to know what the big draw for them will be after the 50th Anniversary celebration is over since I’m assuming the golden statues will be removed. In conclusion, they sound great in theory but until Disney works out some of the kinks, save your money!

✨TRAVEL HACK✨
When we go to Disney, we try to save as much money on breakfast as possible (I prefer to spend my money on snacks 😁). Unfortunately, our kids are not pop-tart type people…they prefer “real food”.
•
We pack frozen biscuits/breakfast foods & a small air fryer to make breakfast in our room (our room won’t have a microwave). We double bag them & put them in a cooler full of ice for the trip down & keep them frozen by refreshing the ice throughout the trip.
•
This trip, we are taking: sausage biscuits, chicken biscuits, breakfast burritos, bacon egg & cheese toaster scramblers, & pancakes.

- Aquatica

Aquatica is SeaWorld’s own water park! Whether you are looking for action and adventure or just want to relax and unwind, Aquatica has something for everyone! It has a plethora of water slides and two wave pools.

If you're just looking to kick back and relax, look no further. While your family thrills down body slides and raft rides, you can take a relaxing moment on some more laid back attractions. You can float down lazy rivers or soak in the sun on the pristine beaches.

If your family includes tiny tykes or independent adventurers, you're sure to find play areas fit for them as well. There are plenty of kid-friendly attractions that your little ones are sure to love. Kata's Kookaburra Cove includes beginner's body slides, water spouts and pools; and Walkabout Waters has some serious fun including slides, splash pools, squirting water and more.

You are sure to find something for everyone at Aquatica!

- Did you know that SeaWorld owns THREE theme parks in Orlando?? This week, we’re going to look at all three a little more closely. Starting with the OG - SeaWorld!

SeaWorld is a family-friendly destination with a variety of rides, attractions, shows, and animal experiences. They currently have four rollercoasters (with another coming in 2023!) and two water adventure rides. They have animal shows that range from silly to inspiring. And if you want to see these beautiful creatures up close, they also have tours and animal experiences that you can purchase.

For the little ones, SeaWorld also has an entire “land” dedicated to Sesame Street. There you can take a stroll down Sesame Street, meet and greet some of your favorite characters, ride and play! Sesame Street Land has several “county-fair-type” rides and a couple of interactive play areas. The whole area is very cute and colorful and your kids will find something to play or interact with every where they turn.
