What started in our Colivings keeps growing in the most beautiful ways 💛 From more meetups in Nairobi while’s others are crossing borders to Uganda and Rwanda together 🇺🇬➡️🇷🇼, road-tripping through Tanzania 🇹🇿, some are following each other and heading towards Namibia 🇳🇦 with (if you don’t know them, check them out!). Others have just summitted Mt. Kenya together 🏔️. And later this month? Cape Town is awaiting for quite an AfricaNomads meetup! 🇿🇦🌊🍷

🌍✨ We always get asked who can be part of our community! We’re an inclusive group of freedom seekers passionate about travel. 🌟 There are no age limits—our members range from 24 to 67, with the average being in the early 30s to late 40s! 👩‍💻👨‍💻

As for nationalities? We’ve welcomed a fantastic mix of 27 different backgrounds so far! 🗺️ And there are so many more to come!

The common thread? Everyone is busy with remote work, building their own companies, or pursuing personal projects. 💼✨ And we love to mingle and have fun! 🎉 Staying engaged in our projects keeps our productivity high! 💪 Come check it out for yourself! 🚀

🎉 Happy Re-Birthday to our co-founder, Alejandra! 🎂🥂 Today, she’s celebrating her 14th year since stepping foot on the magical continent of Africa 🌍. Yes, 14 years ago, she hopped on a plane to Zanzibar 🇹🇿 for what was supposed to be a 6-month stay but it all turned to into something bigger, Africa had other plans...

💫 What began as a short stay has turned into a life full of breathtaking adventures and across this incredible continent! Africa is one of those places that either captures your heart forever or leaves you speechless. For Alejandra, it was love at first sight! ❤️

✨ Her favorite spots? Kenya 🇰🇪, where she now calls home, the jaw-dropping Okavango Delta and Makgadikgadi Salt Pans of Botswana 🇧🇼 where she lived for 7 years, the dramatic landscapes of Namibia 🇳🇦, the rich history of Ethiopia 🇪🇹, and of course, her unforgettable experience tracking gorillas in Congo 🇨🇩!

🌍 Having explored 14 countries and counting, there’s still so much more to uncover! Next up on her wishlist? Cape Verde 🇨🇻, Madagascar 🇲🇬, Malawi 🇲🇼, and who knows— another of her dreams the Central African Republic 🇨🇫 someday!

🚀 But it’s not just about travel. After years of working in hotels, and facing burnout, Alejandra channeled her passion for Africa into creating AfricaNomads. Combining her expertise and love for the continent, she’s dedicated to helping fellow travelers explore its wonders. 🧳🐘

Confirmed!!! Barbara will be joining us on our Watamu Coliving, she will be guiding our Yoga sessions as well as she will offer a regenerative treatment to all our participants in the Watamu Coliving!

A bit about her:

My name is Barbara, and I grew up in the Paris region of France. I have always been passionate about arts and creativity as well as respectful travel and adventure, and I have long aspired to launch my own professional project. After exploring and learning from various professions, I ultimately turned to therapy to create a project that truly resonates with my heart and values.

Driven by my desire to channel my creativity and passion for well-being into a more meaningful path, I pursued training in sophrology, yoga, and few massages techniques, to cultivate a holistic approach to therapy from the mind and emotions to the body.

This journey led me to create the Sensorial Integrative Therapy, a practice designed to support individuals in their quest for well-being by restoring harmony between the body, mind, and spirit. This therapy emphasizes the exploration of emotions and promotes overall well-being through a nurturing approach.

My goal is to accompany travelers and nomads on their journeys, helping to maintain a focus on their well-being throughout the challenges of a constantly changing environment. I aim to assist them in reconnecting with their inner selves, taking the time to care for their mental and physical health, and finding a sense of grounding also during their travels to help them prioritize self-care and enhance their personal journeys.

Far from the beaten path, Kiwayuu is a sanctuary for the true traveler—those who seek more than just a place, but a deeper connection with the world around them.

At AfricaNomads, our travels are about discovery, not just of new lands but of new perspectives. We’re dedicated to immersing ourselves in the local culture, supporting community projects, and promoting responsible travel. 🌍 We have just started our Coliving in Lamu island with an amazing crew! The first week has been incredible, and we can’t wait for the months ahead. 🌅🏡
We visited some of the most historical places in the Archipelago, 🏝️ LAMU being a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is truly a destination to behold! 🌍 We mingled with some of the most incredible humans that call this island home 🏡 and enjoyed some great conversations as we got to hear the stories that make each of us so unique! ✨

🌍🍽️ A taste of Swahili magic!

Throwback to our last retreat when incredible chefs, Mariam and Zion the Lion, guided us through a delightful cooking class. We learned (we tried at least 😅) to make the most mouth-watering samosas, the softest layered chapati, fish in traditional Swahili coconut sauce, coconut rice and delicious greens. We have known Zion for over 5 years now and is like a family member to us, such a fantastic soul!

It was really an amazing evening spent around the table, sharing stories and savoring the Swahili flavors. 🥘✨
