Relax in this freshly prepared, authentic and high quality herbal bath after a long day of trek. This practice is integral to the Red Dao culture and locals utilise herbs found from forests surrounding their village. Every bath is prepared on demand by trained local professionals guided by their traditional village healer.
How does this differ from other services around Vietnam? Past travellers like yourself have shared that the herbal bath is
- entirely organic unlike some others that add chemicals to create foam
- relaxing when you can take as much time as you need in the bath
- detoxing and soothes muscle aches
โDid you know? The herbal bath service marks the founding of the community enterprise and its motivation was to bring more youths together to revitalise this traditional practice and improve the localโs knowledge of various herbs. Since then, this community enterprise have grown to offer other tourism activities that you get to enjoy now when you visit.
Find out more when you drop by this village or join our upcoming RT 101 in May. Early bird ends this week!

Part of practicing regenerative tourism involves appreciating native wildlife and recognising the integral role they play in the ecosystem. Camels are significant to nomadic Mongolian culture, relied upon for transportation, livelihoods, and cultural practices.
Weโre looking forward to our upcoming Mongolia trip in June next year, where weโll get to attend the annual Camel Festival. Thereโs still time to sign up as we get close and personal with topics of sustainability and cultural preservation.

More than 60 dogs call this beachside shelter home.
This animal haven is the labour of love of Bunda and Mak - two women in our Balinese community who have been rescuing dogs, cats, monkeys and turtles.
As part of the villageโs effort for regenerative tourism, visitors and animal lovers alike are warmly welcomed with warm tea and banana fritters. Listen to the sound of the waves while learning about the womenโs adventures over the years.
Regenerative tourism is helping Bunda and Mak to tide through the inflating costs of caring for the dogs. Though villagers and nearby residents have volunteered countless times over the decades, such as helping with vet related expenses and providing vaccinations, conservation work is never finished. Amidst rising food costs, every tourist dollar spent here will go a long way for our wildlife heroes.
In July-September, they wait as sea turtles lay their eggs in the warm sand of the pristine beach. Hatchlings are gently guided back to sea and injured turtles are nursed back to health.
Will you be here to experience the villagersโ love for our animals and wildlife?

Through Takhiโs Regenerative Tourism methodology, we emphasise the carrying capacity of the local communities we work with. At Takhi destinations, tourism is not the localsโ main source of income, which allows them to become less reliant on visitors while preserving their way of life.
By setting a visitor cap, overtourism is avoided. Some communities even emphasise that only one group of travellers can visit at any given point of time!
Be sure to book your regenerative trip early and let us know your preferred activities ASAP! While we and the villagers aim to provide you with the experience you desire, if it is harvest season, or if the destination is overbooked, we would have to recommend other activities or destinations. This is to allow the villagers rest and time to support their livelihoods.

Meet Aniek, our community partner in Bali. A former teacher in Surabaya, she has since returned to her village with the hopes of revitalising the community. Her mission is to empower fellow locals to own their land through regenerative tourism, and to conserve their natural, cultural heritage.
Part of Aniekโs work is to maximise the socio-environmental potential of remaining land, through methods Agroforestry, community centres, hydroponic farming and indoor vertical farms. This is because the community has lost a lot of formerly agricultural land due to tourism development interest in Bali. As such, Aniek hopes that travellers and locals alike come together for an experience rooted in appreciation for the land and nature.
Not only that, but Aniek also coordinates the tourism work in this village. She organises the homeowners in taking turns to host travellers in their homes so that manpower and profit from tourism are shared within the community. As much as possible, this allows the villagers to avoid tourism becoming their main source of income. Some villagers work in the nearby town; many are farmers, fisherfolks, artists and some are even now agroforestry rangers.
Through Aniekโs mission of having a positive impact on the land they currently have and organising the community for tourism, this destination can become more financially resilient and independent. The proceeds benefit the locals directly, and Aniek hopes that more travellers visit to experience the different facets of their unique village life.
Book now on takhi.co to experience Seaweed harvesting, jali beads handicrafts, local culinary and other village experiences with Aniekโs village!

Meet Sฦฐ May.
At the age of 30, Sฦฐ May is a mother of two kids and the chief of the Red Dao village we work with. Not only is she loved and respected by those in the village - young or old - but also by everyone in the surrounding villages and mountains.
The election process was done through a vote, where the villagers indicated their confidence by placing seeds in a bowl. Although Sฦฐ May initially did not want to run, she was swayed by the requests of the villages, who understood how capable she was even at such a young age.
In her day to day, she works on her farm, takes care of her family, leads community discussions and governance, and does the accounting for her village.
At Takhi, we collaborate with villagers like Sฦฐ May to empower them. Meet Sฦฐ May and find out more about her life when you visit our destination in Lao Cai. Take a deep dive into stories like her when you join our Regenerative Tourism 101 trip - visit www.takhi.co/rt101 to find out more.

Everyone knows Bali for her beaches, but did you know why the beaches have colourful sand?
Baliโs colourful beaches are a captivating result of minerals like sulphur, iron, and copper oxidising over time. These minerals are found in the volcanic rocks surrounding the island.
Each beach flaunts its own unique palette, and our destination in Bali offers a black shoreline.
The reflection of light on this charcoal-black coast makes for enchanting sunset photos when the light hits just right. Let your thoughts float away, or reflect on stories of the beach as shared by the locals as you stroll along the beach at our destination.
Be it as part of a hike or a midnight stroll, youโre not just experiencing the magic of the island, but also witnessing the artistry of Earth itself. This is a beautiful beach the locals call home, and hope to share with travellers coming with a respectful heart.
Experience the black sandy beaches for yourself or with your loved ones when you book at takhi.co today. โจ

Canoeing in our Bali community isnโt just about the thrill of the ride, but about the stories shared by the people who call this place home.
As we canoed, we saw the differences between locally-owned houses and foreign-invested land. Pak spoke to us about how some members of the local community were swayed to sell their land and holiday villas being erected on what was once traditional rice paddies run by generations of farmers.
We love Bali and its people. When development for mass tourism takes place, it often comes with a sense of cultural dislocation for the communities that have called a place their home for generations.
With Takhi, you can experience Bali through regenerative tourism, where every stroke of your paddle is a step towards preserving rich natural & cultural heritage and supporting local livelihoods directly. Youโll not only paddle through pristine waters but also dive deep into the vibrant every day of the local Balinese people.
Let your Bali visit become more than just a trip; let it become a transformational experience that leaves your heart fuller and your spirit lighter. Come join us in creating a better world, one canoe adventure at a time. Book ahead for your water adventures now on takhi.co.
Reflecting on an incredible day trip to Pulau Ubin with @wansubinjournal , where we learnt so much about the heritage and culture of the Orang Pulau!โจ
