Disney Parks news coming out this morning!

BIG news from the Disney Parks today! 🌳🎬🌐🏰

In the next few weeks, Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World Resort will begin piloting a new service that provides expedited entry to park attractions. It’s called Lightning Lane Premier Pass!

At Disneyland Resort, this will be available to purchase on a first come, first served basis beginning two days in advance of a theme park reservation and will be valid for use in both theme parks. The first date it will be available is October 23, 2024.

At Walt Disney World it will only be available to guests staying at Disney Deluxe or Deluxe Villa Resorts and may be purchased up to seven days in advance of their stay. It will only be valid for use in one park of the guest’s choice per day. The first date it will be available is October 30, 2024.

These passes will give guests one-time entry to each available Lightning Lane entrance in the theme park they are visiting that day. This includes both Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Single Pass attractions, but with Lightning Lane Premier Pass, guests do not need to select an experience time! Pricing will vary on parks and dates.

Update from Walt Disney World :

"We continue to closely monitor the path of Hurricane Milton. Based on the latest projection, we are making additional operational adjustments for the safety of our Guests and Cast Members beginning tomorrow, Oct. 9.

The Walt Disney World Emergency Operations Center is connected to weather experts and community leaders. Please know these adjustments have been made in order to leave plenty of time for our Guests and Cast Members to return to their Resort hotels or homes safely hours before higher winds are expected to reach Central Florida.

‼️Operational Impacts Include:‼️

Walt Disney World Theme Parks
On Oct. 9, our theme parks and Disney Springs will be closed in phases beginning at 1 p.m.

🎬🌳 Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Disney’s Animal Kingdom will close at 1 p.m.
🏰🌐 Magic Kingdom, EPCOT and Disney Springs will close at 2 p.m.

It is likely the theme parks will remain closed on Thursday, Oct. 10. We will consider opening Disney Springs Thursday late afternoon with limited offerings.

🎃This includes the cancellation of Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party at Magic Kingdom on Oct. 10. Event tickets will be refunded.

Disney Resort Hotel Closures:

Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground and the Treehouse Villas at Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa will temporarily close beginning at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 9. They are likely to remain closed until Sunday, Oct. 13.

Transportation 🚍🚅🚠

Walt Disney World Transportation will stop operating Wednesday, Oct. 9 after Disney Springs and the Walt Disney World theme parks close.

Limited Minnie Van and Mears taxi service will be available to Walt Disney World Resort Guests.
Recreation

Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon, Winter Summerland Miniature Golf and Fantasia Gardens Miniature Golf will be closed on Wednesday, Oct. 9. Disney’s Blizzard Beach remains closed for planned refurbishment.

Reservations for Dining and Other Experiences:
Effective immediately, we will not enforce cancellation policies until further notice for dining and other experiences.
Pre-paid bookable experiences will be automatically refunded within 7 to 10 business days."

The D23 Experiences Showcase gave us a TON of things to look forward to at Disney’s resorts, cruise line and digital experiences! 🤩

There were WAY too many announcements to fit in one post - so here are some of our personal favorites! For ALL of the details, check out our stories live from the Honda Center!

⭐️ Disneyland: Tiana’s Bayou Adventure opens November 15th and the Disneyland Resort will soon feature a new Avatar destination, two new Marvel attractions, a Coco-themed attraction and an attraction centered around the life of Walt Disney called Walt Disney: A Magical Life

⭐️ Disney Cruise Line will be adding FOUR never previously announced ships to its fleet between 2027 and 2031

⭐️ Disney villains and the Incredibles will be available in Fortnite this fall while new characters from Star Wars and Marvel (including Dr. Doom!) will be available NEXT WEEK!

But Walt Disney World was the heavy hitter this year…

✨ Epcot’s new Spaceship Earth themed lounge and the newly reimagined Test Track open next year

✨ Animal Kingdom’s Dinoland will be transformed into Tropical Americas and will feature a new Indiana Jones attraction, a carousel and an Encanto area with a Casita attraction. A new Zootopia show will also debut on Discovery Island next year!

✨ Hollywood Studios will soon feature a Monsters Inc land including Disney’s first suspended coaster!

✨ The Magic Kingdom will soon be home to a new nighttime parade, a new pirate lounge, two new Cars-themed attractions and a brand new VILLAINS land! 😱

Magical Greetings!

My name is Jen and I live in the western suburbs of Chicago, IL. My love for traveling to the parks started on a trip to Walt Disney World when I was young. We went with my Godparents and I vividly remember my Godfather teaching me about the windows on Main Street and the significance of the names on each window. On that same trip I took a backstage tour and learned all about how the magic is created and how the different entertainment groups are staged and created. Ever since, I long to visit the parks and love planning our trips, especially now with our two young children. We plan our Disney trips as often as we can and each trip is just as magical as the last.

I have also participated in multiple RunDisney events. Running is easy when you are running through the most magical place on Earth!

A little more about me…

My favorite Disney resort: I have a favorite in each category but if I had to choose one it would be Art of Animation. It exemplifies my love for animation and a long time dream to be a Disney animator.
