High all beaches, mainly this afternoon as Ernesto swell builds. In addition, large breaking waves up to 8 feet are possible south of Oregon Inlet. Thus, a high surf advisory is in effect beginning at 2pm.

Red Flags for Emerald Isle, Dangerous currents and shore break!!
Don't take the chance in the water, enjoy the sun and sand but no swimming!!

Professor is around 2 1/2 months old and ready for adoption! He is combo tested, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and neutered.

We do require kittens be adopted in pairs if there is not already a playful cat in the home. Kittens under 6 months have an adoption fee of $125 for a single and $175 for a pair.

HURRICANE DEBBY: Emerald Isle Press Release #1: Trash Pickup Suspended

EMERALD ISLE, NC – Normal trash collection will occur on Monday 8/5 and Tuesday 8/6 Normal recycling collection is expected to occur on Wednesday (weather permitting)
Thurs./ Friday Routes: Regular trash routes will be suspended Thursday 8/8 and Friday 8/9

Please DO NOT leave any trash or recycling cans near the street Wednesday evening through Friday night.
Weather permitting, Simmons & Simmons will collect the Ocean-side trash route on Saturday 8/10
Sound-side customers will return to normal collection service on Tuesday 8/13
White Goods Collection: Suspended August 9 (will be collected Aug 16)

Residents are encouraged to secure their trash bins on Wednesday after recycling pickup. Do not leave cans at/near the street.

We urge all residents to prepare for Hurricane Debby and stay informed through our official channels. The Carteret County Humane Society and Animal Shelter of Newport will host adopt-a-thons at Carolina Home and Garden in Newport. The times and dates are noon to 3 p.m. Aug. 17 and 1-3 p.m. Aug. 25.
