My wine tastings are a wonderful opportunity not only to introduce people to the diverse world of wine but also to enrich my own world by interacting with people from different cultures, learn new perspectives and to discover that even though we are diverse we all share more common traits than we think.

It was a pleasure to have the beautiful Lacey Ramsaran from The Netherlands as a customer and we have let our palates travel through different regions and terroirs in Spain.

We started with Bilma Rock Rosé from Navarra, grape variety Garnacha, with an aromatic profile of red fruits, very fresh, perfect for drinking in the summer.

We then travelled from rainy Navarra, characterized by sandy terroir, limestone and clay to Somontano in the Aragonese Pyrenees where we tasted a Chardonnay from

Then we moved to Rioja where we tasted a nice Tempranillo from 2018 from

While in Andalucía one must try the local wines so we tasted a Cabernet Franc 2019 from Tagus Roble from Ronda, Denominación De Origen Sierras de Málaga with an aromatic profile of dark fruits, liquorice and high tannins

We then finished our journey through the Spanish vineyards in Ribera del Duero. We tried a Tempranillo from Viña Solorca Reserva 2018 from characterized by spices, cocoa, coffee and both my client and I were very impressed with this well balanced wine that has amazing aging potential.

And with a nice Riesling...We know the Vinoble Jerez 2022 event was about fortified and sweet wines, but Lovers of The Vine takes pride in always finding the highly sought after wines in unexpected places and make our customers happy.

I tasted the Riesling Alsace Grand Cru from Domaine Bàrmes-Buecher and also the Riesling Kabinett from Weingut Robert Weil that amazed me with its green fruits, citrus and floral aromas, easy to drink with a low alcohol percentage of 9% making it perfect for an evening in the very hot climate of .

Wine tasting at , a byodinamic winery located in Ronda.
The byodinamic concept means that the vineyard is used as a whole in the ellaboration of wines, for example instead of fertilizers and pesticides, myrtle, rosemary and many other herbs are used to keep away insects.
The lunar calendar is observed while working the vineyard.

From I tasted Pinot Noir, Lemberger, Finca Sanguijuela - a blend of Tempranillo, Merlot & Cabernet Sauvignon, and Petit Verdot, also shown in the pictures and combined with a piece of chocolate giving the taste of cherry liqueur-filled chocolates.

This Friday was Sauvignon Blanc day so let's delve into the world of this herbaceous grape variety.

Originally from Bordeaux, France this grape variety is grown in many other countries among Spain, Romania, Moldova, New Zealand, USA, Chile, South Africa.

The primary fruit flavours are lime, green apple, passion fruit and white peach, depending on how ripe the grapes are when the wine is made.

Due to its herbaceous notes Sauvignon Blanc pairs well with similar green herbs such as parsley, rosemary, basil, cilantro or mint. In terms of food pairing white meats and soft and sour cheeses such as goat's milk cheese or crème fraîche also make a good pairing.

In the picture the wine is a Sauvignon Blanc from .purcari, from the 1827 collection. The aromatic profile of this wine from Moldova is pale lemon in colour, with citrus aromas, exotic fruits and discreet floral aromas, with a medium level of alcohol at 13%.

Recommended food pairings: salads, goat cheese and sea bass.

Recommended storage temperature: 10-12 C

Happy International Malbec day!

Originally from France, Malbec has reached its full potential in Argentina, hence it is the nation's pride.

Malbec wine is known for its deep purple color and full body. Malbec grapes are small and dark in color with very thick skins, producing a wine that has rich fruity flavors and medium tannin levels.

Malbec grapes do well in sunny climates that also have cold nights. High elevation spots are perfect, like the Mendoza wine region nestled in the foothills of the Andes in Argentina.

🇬🇧 Hands down the best place to have breakfast or brunch in Alicante. I have fallen in love with their diverse range of sandwiches made from fresh ingredients such as avocado, fresh cheese, tomatoes, turkey, salmon. The combination is simply mouthwatering.
Not to mention their great coffees and freshly baked croissants with chocolate.

Their owners are very friendly and you will feel just like home when visiting them.

My first recommendation for you ladies on your day is the Moscato d'Asti from Cascinetta Vietti with intense aromas of peaches, rose petals and ginger on the nose, and sweet, sparkling with balanced acidity and a long finish on the palate.

A Prosecco is always a good idea and has a very nice Sparkling wine made from the Glera grape variety (a typical grape variety used for Prosecco) and an elegant combination of green fruits and floral aromas on the nose. On the palate there is the same green fruits and floral consistency as on the nose, making it a subtle, elegant sparkling wine.

One of my favourite wines from Moldova is this dry Feteascā Regalā from characterized by stone fruit aromas and flavours of honey all the while having a strong personality at 14% alcohol.

It makes for an excellent choice at lunch with fish or any other white meat dishes.
