It all started here back in 1996.
The Mendocino National Forest was the first segment of the California Backcountry Discovery Trail, sparking a movement in vehicle-assisted adventure travel. It set the stage for additional routes through Six Rivers, Shasta-Trinity, Plumas, Lassen, Modoc, and Angeles National Forests in the years that followed.
