Middelburg was waiting for us! We arrived early and had a lovely visit to this charming town on market day to admire the whimsical shops and sample local tasty cheese! Then on to Zeeland to see the engineering marvel of the storm surge barrier, learn about the historical reality of this below-sea-level seaside, and then a visit to the ancient fishing village-turned quaint town of Veere where we admired the architecture, shops and delicious hot chocolate. We came back on board to celebrate our day with an Amazing Journeys cocktail party!

We spent time in Arnhem, one of Europe’s most unique cities, having rebuilt itself after the 1944 battle. We learned the fascinating history at the Hartenstein Airbourne Museum, followed by time exploring the art, sculptures and beautiful grounds of the Kröller-Müller Museum. This evening, we got to know each other a bit better with cocktails and some evening dancing aboard our river cruise!

We took a fascinating Amsterdam walking history tour where the first stop was our very own hotel as it was originally the head office/palace for the Dutch East India Company. We strolled along the amazing canals, heard historical anecdotes and explored the Nine Streets district. Later, we spent time frolicking in the tulip fields, snacked on edam cheese and stroopwafel snacks, and boarded the river cruise - our home for the next week. The evening was capped off with a Captain's Welcome party and a performance by a local shandy choir!

Our Waterways of Holland & Belgium vacation has begun - follow along as your friends explore this amazing region! Kicking off in Amsterdam, we are exploring the canals, bridges and sights of this picturesque city. We took an interesting walking tour highlighting the Jewish Quarter and visited the beautiful Portuguese Synagogue before enjoying our first group dinner together!

On our last day in Cape Town, we learned about the Jewish history of South Africa at the Jewish Museum, enjoyed some free time at Kirstenbosch Gardens and in our hotel pool, had an amazing Farewell Event and capped off the trip with a drumming and dancing dinner!
