Día Nacional del Cocodrilo

El 23 de agosto, México celebra el Día Nacional del Cocodrilo, con el fin de concientizar a la población sobre la importancia de conservar a los que hoy son los reptiles más grandes de la Tierra, y que han sobrevivido desde hace 240 millones de años, de los cuales nuestro país cuenta con tres de las 23 especies: cocodrilo de río o real (Crocodylus acutus), cocodrilo de pantano (Crocodylus moreletii) y caimán (Caiman crocodilus).

Today I`m sharing this post because we need your help !!!
As many of you know already I was living in Punta Allen for a few years and in 2018 we iniciated with "Punta Allen limpio" !
Before COVID we organized together with the community, the hotels, FlyFishing Clubs and the Cooperatives every month a beach clean up or village clean up ! Finally - with the help and donations of a lot of locals but also ONGs and private people - we could start to build the recycling centre. We are so excited that it is almost finished but we still need donations to do the final touch and put windows, doors and other installations. Middle of January in Sian Ka`an, in only a few hours a lots of wildlife and we have a lots of babies out there, I`m still so impressed of the beauty of this peace of earth and love to share this experience with you !!!

Last weekend with my friends in Punta Allen, we were quite productive and did the first prototype waste container with recolected PET bottles from the beach for the used PET bottles of the village to recycle them :-)

Fin de semana pasado en Punta Allen, estuvimos productivos y logramos hacer el primer prototypo de basurero de PET de playa :-)

Gracias al esfuerzo de lideresas comunitarias y voluntarias, así como al trabajo de la familia de Doña Julia y Don Jesús, acopiadores de PET de la comunidad de , en Maya Ka'an Travel, recolectamos plásticos marinos y con ellos realizamos contenedores de basura, ¡por un Punta Allen limpio!

Tu también haz la diferencia. Separa tus botellas de plástico vacías, aplástalas, tápalas y llévalas al centro de acopio. 🌎💚

This is a great project from last year in which I was participating while I was living in Punta Allen. If you book the tour with me I`ll take you for a delicious lunch to my friend`s home, she was also part of this project as the second cook AND we are still working together for you :-)
