The Colosseum, one of Rome’s most famous sites, was an ambitious project designed to entertain and impress the Roman population.

Its strategic location, in the heart of Rome, facilitated public access to the shows.

The construction of the Colosseum was a remarkable engineering feat for the time. Using concrete, stone, bricks and wood, the Romans erected an elliptical structure with capacity for up to 80,000 spectators.

The project included a complex system of tunnels and elevators to transport animals and gladiators to the arena, as well as a sophisticated system of awnings to protect the public from the sun and rain.

For centuries, the Colosseum hosted spectacles that attracted crowds from all walks of life.

The games were free and open to all, serving as a form of popular entertainment and political propaganda for the emperors.

With the decline of the Roman Empire, the Colosseum fell into disuse and suffered from looting and earthquakes. However, its structure has stood the test of time and today it is one of the most visited monuments in the world.
