One of my favorites among Italian reds 💚: Cannonau di Sardegna 🍷

This specialty, mainly grown in central Sardinia, is packed with flavor and tradition. With its deep garnet color that softens to orange as it ages, Cannonau offers intense notes of wild berries and plums, along with a rich, savory character.
Try it with roasted meats and aged cheeses—like the legendary Sardinian porceddu (roast pork) and local pecorino—and you’ll feel instantly rejuvenated! 🤸
Why?
Cannonau from Barbagia contains up to 10 times the antioxidants of other wines, making it a true elixir of longevity.

Have you heard of Cannonau di Sardegna? Curious to try this wine and its health benefits? Let me know in the comments! ⬇️

🥐 Croissant, cornetto, brioche: what to say when ordering a breakfast in a coffee bar in the morning?

🇮🇹 According to the area you are visiting, there are different ways to call this pastry in Italy.

👉🏻 Cornetto is the best and more correct way to call it all over the country
👉🏻 Brioche is the second most used way, but actually is not so correct
👉🏻 Pasta is the way people in my area call it and it is way less used!

👉🏻scroll through the images to find out more..

And, if you don’t feel confident using Italian words, just call it “croissant” and enjoy your breakfast and time in Italy ☕️

The living nativity scene (presepe vivente) consists of a short theatrical performance that aims to represent, with the use of human figures, the birth of Jesus in a scenography, which is built to set the story of the nativity.

Cities, hamlets, or their neighborhoods now organize live nativity scenes using the inhabitants themselves as figures. In addition to being a unique and evocative moment, it is an opportunity to showcase ancient local crafts that are now disappearing.

Many of the most beautiful nativity performances in Italy are in:

➡️ Greccio, a small village nestled in the Apennines in the province of Rieti, that one of the oldest living nativity scenes in the world is staged. It is said that the first edition was commissioned here by Saint Francis of Assisi in 1223.
➡️ Matera, the perfect location to represent the Bethlehem of two thousand years ago, in a five kilometer route animated by shepherds, musicians and artisans who lead the visitor towards the representation of the nativity of Jesus.
➡️ Genga (Marche), it is the largest in the world by extension. In fact, it covers an area of approximately 30,000 square meters within the Frasassi Gorge.
➡️ Montefiore Conca, near Rimini, transforms into a small Bethlehem. Numerous figures participate in an initiative that, for three decades, has involved and united the inhabitants of the Municipality with those of neighboring towns.
➡️ Alberobello in Puglia, where each trullo becomes a shepherd's hut along a free route within the characteristic Aia Piccola district.

Many of you will surely have heard of panettone, the king of all desserts during the Christmas time in Italy 🎄
Soft to the touch, with a homogeneous and elongated honeycomb structure, it is in fact the most consumed leavened dessert in December in the Country.

You can find many version of Panettone in Italy: chocolate, pistachios, raisins only, gianduia (hazelnut and cocoa cream), lemon, etc. but the traditional one contains both raisins and candied fruit well distributed in the crumb. When tasted, it must release an aroma of butter, vanilla and citrus, with a melting and soft consistency.

Like many traditional Italian recipes, the narrative on the birth of Panettone is divided between history and legend.
What is certain is that he was born in Milan, and the most accredited story tells of a a young scullion boy (named Toni) from the court of Ludovico il Moro, lord of Milan.
The head chef asked Toni to follow the cooking of the dessert for the Lords’ Christmas lunch. But, Toni fell asleep, burning it. Fearful of the head chef's reaction, he tried to remedy the mistake he made. Fortunately he had prepared a dessert for himself and his friends using the leftover bread dough to which he had subsequently added eggs, butter, candied fruit and raisins. He thus decided to risk everything and proposed it to the head chef as a dessert for the Duke's guests. At the end, all the guests appreciated it and the dessert was nicknamed "el pan de Toni" (“Tony’s bread” in Milanese dialect), in honor of its creator.

Over the years, the recipe spread throughout Italy, taking the name of Panettone 🍞

Leave a like if you already eat a Panettone this year! 😋

Le Marche is the perfect region where people can enjoy moments of relaxation and well-being. 😌

In the region there are many hot springs and wellness centers that use natural mineral water, which can bring many health benefits. 💪🏼They are suitable for those who suffer in particular from respiratory disorders, joint pain, and for those who suffer from skin diseases and to increase their immune defenses 🤧 Depending on the area, you can choose between different spa establishments, there are many from north to south:

👉🏻 Terme di Raffaello in the Petriano Valley, between medieval villages and uncontaminated nature. The wellness center uses the waters of La Valle spring for healing treatments and their line of cosmetics for sensitive skin.

👉🏻 Terme di Frasassi in Genga, near the marvellous Frasassi caves and the Valadier temple. The structure offers wellness treatments carried out with natural sulphurous waters.

👉🏻 Terme dell’Aspio in Camerano, not far from the wonderful beaches of Numana and Sirolo and Conero Mount. The wellness programs are dedicated to sports and aesthetic messages, ideal for both winter and summer, when you want an activity other than the beach.

👉🏻 Terme di Santa Lucia in Tolentino are immersed in a wonderful centuries-old forest on a hill. The structure, in addition to offering curative spa services, with a clinic and health professionals, is also oriented towards services for families with children, specific treatments for children and a playground.

👉🏻 Terme di San Giacomo in Sarnano, a postcard village, especially in winter with its ski slopes. The center offers a spa equipped with all services, such as a Finnish sauna, Turkish bath and swimming pools, using the bicarbonate-calcium water of San Giacomo.

👉🏻 Acquasanta Terme, near the wellness and health center, is the only one that has a free open air spas as well, the sulphurous springs of the upper Tronto river.

Between hot springs immersed in the woods and wellness centers within spas and accommodation facilities, a holiday in the Marche could make you feel regenerated in every season.🧖🏻‍♀️

Do you know that within Italy there are two indipendent State? 🇻🇦 🇸🇲

You probably know the Vatican City in Rome, but there is another independent State between the regions Le Marche and Emilia-Romagna, called San Marino, that many people wouldn’t know.

Both States are not even part of the European Union or of the Schengen Area Countries, but they have open borders with Italy. There are no documents checks or passport control at the borders, so once you travel to Italy, you can easily get in these two different independent countries.

The Vatican and San Marino, are very small States, which require no more than one day to visit.
Everybody knows what tourists can visit in the Vatican City, such as the Vatican Museums, St. Peter’s Basilica and Sistine Chapel. ⛪️
But what can people see in San Marino?
Well, San Marino has an interesting historic background, it is in fact the oldest Republic in Europe. But most of all, it has a marvellous view from its Mount Titano and a great historical weaponry museum! 🛡️🗡️

Would you like to know more about San Marino State?

Dessert you should eat while travelling through Italy 🇮🇹

Who can say no to dessert after a meal?
Every time I am at the restaurant I always look at the dessert menu, or (as common in Italy) I want to hear the dessert offer from the waiter.
In fact, in Italy there is not just tiramisú. You will find usually a wide choice of deserts. Be sure to choose the local specialty 😉

Discover 7 sweet Italian dishes and where you could have a taste of them 👇

1️⃣ Ricotta cannoli from Sicily, garnished with pistachios, chocolate chips or candied orange peel
2️⃣ Lady's kisses from Piedmont
3️⃣ Panna Cotta with your favorite topping: caramel, chocolate or mixed berries sauce
4️⃣ Cantucci with almond from Central Italy
5️⃣ Sfogliatella, riccia or frolla (crispy puff pastry or shortcrust pastry) from Naples
6️⃣ Fave dei Morti (literally "dead beans"). According to the ancient Romans, beans were a direct means of communication between Hades, the world of the dead, and that of the living.
7️⃣ Pasticciotto with custard from Apulia. It could be stuffed with cherry or other other cream as well.

Have you tried one of them? 😋

My biggest weakness: APEROL SPRITZ 🍹

Aperol spritz is a sparking wine (Prosecco!) based drink, usually consumed like aperitiv or pre-meal. It is made with 3 parts of wine, 2 parts of aperol liquor, 1 part of soda and a slice of orange.

The beverage was born in Veneto region in the 50s, becoming always more and more popular in the whole peninsula.
Today it represents the conviviality, sociability, a moment to share. 🥂

🧡 To me, spritz is 100% my favorite beverage. I would drink it all day long instead of water, if it just would be calories free 😅

Have you ever eaten black pasta? 😲

When you are in an italian sea town, it could happen you find a "spaghetti al nero di seppia" in a restaurant's menu. It is basically a pasta, usually spaghetty or long pasta, made with the squid black ink, squid meat and sometimes crustaceans or molluscs. 🦑
It is kind of spooky, also because your mouth, lips and tongue will become black after having it, but it is a tasty dish with a deep maritime flavour! 🐟 Plus, it seems squid ink has a lot of good food properties!

A less intense version you can find too, is the black squid ink tagliatelle, which has ink in the egg dough. The long egg pasta will then be served with a simple seafood sauce.

What do you think? Would you eat such a black pasta?

Do you like Tiramisu? I bet you do!
Internationally known and appreciated around the world, this dessert was born in Italy! 🇮🇹

Tiramisu in Italian means: lift me up, cheer me up, give me strength 💪🏼

But, who neeed to be “lift up”? Well, what if I tell you that the famous dessert born in a pleasure house in Treviso, in Veneto region ? 🙃

The owner of the brothel would have created this aphrodisiac and invigorating dessert to offer it to her clients at the end of the evenings with the aim of reinvigorating them and solving problems related to marital duties upon their return to the family.

“Desso ve tiro su mi” (now I'll cheer you up) she used to say her clients in Venetian dialect. Born this way “Tiremesù”, a "natural Vi**ra" from the 19th century.

However, the stories about the origin of tiramisu are many and different.
It is also true that over the centuries, a veil of prudery and popular shame may have hidden the true origin of Tiramisu, as this will not be reported in books until the fall of conformism linked to historical respectability which occurred in the second half of the 20th century .
In fact, many of the stories about it trace the origins of tiramisu back to around 1950.

Three cornerstones of the gastronomic culture of the Marche region are dishes born from recovery. ♻️

That's right, the people of the Marche region don't throw anything away, absolutely nothing.
They don't throw away the paper bags of bread, they don't throw away the plastic take away containers, they don't throw away the jars or glass bottles of sauces...
imagine if they throw away food!

We see a way to reuse anything, and here's what came out in the kitchen 🤩

Don’t call it LASAGNA!

Sunday in Le Marche is VINCISGRASSI! 🤤

What are they? What’s the difference between Lasagna and Vincisgrassi?

Vincisgrassi (plural in Italian) are our local version of Bolognaise Lasagna.
They are prepared with a roughly chopped meat sauce and contain chicken, goose or duck giblets as well.
Furthermore, the bechamel in the Marche dish is not present (although there are different schools of thought…) and you must taste the spices, such as clove and nutmeg.
At the end, Vincisgrassi cannot be called Vincisgrassi if they do not have at least 7 sheets overlapping and interspersed with the filling. Lasagna on the other hand, only needs to have two layers.

Usually you can eat Vincisgrassi in typical restaurants or “agriturismi” in the countryside of the souther part of Le Marche. But if you want to eat them at home, you have to prepare them yourself 👩🏻‍🍳 because very rarely you find them ready in food stores.

Everybody knows what Italy is famous for: artistic and culture heritage.
Every year millions of tourists arrive in Italy to admire the works of art of great artists, sculptures, statues and squares.
But, what if you are not a art loving traveler? Today we will discover 5 PLACES that show you that Italy is much more!

1️⃣ Frasassi caves is a sight to see at least once in your life! Located in the centre of Italy, they are so large that they can easily contain the entire Milan Cathedral. The underground trail is up to 13 km, and you can discover natural sculptures that reach 200 meters in height.
2️⃣ According to legend, the colour of Braies Lake carefully guards a precious treasure. The story tells that the valley was full of gold nuggets, and the inhabitants, to conserve them and keep them safe from the raids of neighboring peoples, hid them under the surface of the lake. The reflection of the gold would thus have created the very particular color of Lake Braies.
3️⃣ The goddess of love and beauty chose an astonishing place for her private pool! Legend has it , the goddess used to dive into the Venus Pool to regain her lost virginity. Nature lovers will find here a small corner of paradise immersed in the peace and tranquility of the surrounding vegetation and the crystal clear sea.
4️⃣ Marmore Fall seems like a grandiose work of nature, but it is actually the work of man. It all began with the Romans during a reclamation work. Today the waterfall has a regulated flow that is increased at set times to offer a unique spectacle to visitors.
5️⃣ Immersed in the wonderful and evocative waters of Lake Maggiore, the Borromean Islands has been for centuries the favorite holiday destination for noble families who came here to spend their holidays. Many of them have built sumptuous homes there, but it was the Borromeo family (a prestigious family from Florence) who started their transformation, building villas with elaborate gardens.

What kind of traveler are you?
