The much awaited festival is back again.

In a first of its kind, the first ever zipline was inaugurated and handed over to the people of Aminda Rangsa, at Gambegre block on 16th November, by Honourable MP Madam Agatha Sangma. The project was sanctioned in 2019 by the Ministry of Tourism and carried out by MTDC under the umbrella of Meghalaya Tourism. Adventure seekers can experience the sheer thrill of zipping down this nearly 200 metres long , which will add to some tourism activities in Garo Hills. Those interested in ziplining, may kindly contact members of Aminda Rangsa Eco Tourism Society.

As a part of the 12 days Trek leaders training program (TLTP) , the second batch of enthusiastic young trekkers from Garo Hills left for training to be held at Darjeeling. The batch of 24 young trekkers were sent off with prayer by Pastor Abhik Arengh and flagged off by the former and Asst Director, Tourism. The program is being sponsored by Meghalaya Tourism , where all the nitty gritty details about trekking will be imparted by the subject experts. We wish all our trainees, a successful and valuable training session.

To commemorate World Tourism Day, the Department of Tourism, in Meghalaya has collaborated with Outlook Traveller Magazine to present the India Responsible Tourism Awards.
Honourable Minister of Tourism, Sir Paul Lyngdoh, Commissioner and Secretary Tourism Dr Vijay Kumar IAS, and Director of Tourism Sir CVD Diengdoh IAS, graced the occasion and gave away the prestigious awards to the awardees. Thereafter, the VIPs also unveiled the Mission Statement and Pledge, and the Handbook for homestays in the state.
In all the seven categories, few awards were also bagged by :
Shri Dharmen G Momin( silver in homestay category), Mrs Shirleen Sawkmie Beddoe and Monjori Mrong (both bagged gold in bed and breakfast category), Sembertush A Sangma (silver in Traditional Architecture category), Deepak N Marak (Gold in grassroot heroes category), Ahowee band(silver in cultural ambassadors category).
These awards are a recognition of the dedicated time and efforts, that have been put in by the awardees who have been trying hard to promote sustainable and responsible tourism in Garo Hills.
Meghalaya Tourism is immensely proud of their achievements and may they continue to work harder to promote tourism in future.
