Udaipur: A Saga of Beauty and Pride
Born and brought up in this beautifully nestled city surrounded by the Aravalis, little did I know how privileged I was to grow up in such a scenic town away from all the noise and showbiz of the greater cities. From strolling around the rugged pathways of the old city streets to enjoying the lip smacking chaats at Fatehsagar Chowpatty, I have lived it all.
Udaipur is located in the state of Rajasthan which lies in North Western part of the Indian subcontinent. It is easily accessible by all means of transport, Road, Rail and Air. When people think of Rajasthan they think of the deserts and dunes but Udaipur is contrary to it. The city unveils its charm amidst its lakes, palaces and hills and thereby calling out the travel enthusiasts widely.
The breathtaking views of the setting sun by the lakeside and the changing colour of the skies above the mountains spreads its magic as the day enfolds into evening. With the expansion of travel industry and the desire to visit the hidden gems of the world, Udaipur is gaining its much deserved popularity as an international tourist destination around the world.
Udaipur has all the charms to attract the tourists from lakes to palaces to gardens to mountains. May it be the local tourists from around Rajasthan and Gujarat or celebrities from around the world, Udaipur is showing its worth as a promising travellers paradise. With the growing popularity all the major hotel chains have developed their lavish properties in and around the cities. From luxurious 5 star hotel like the Lake Palace to home stays in the old city street, one can find their comfortable stay options in all ranges.
Although the city itself has many attractions but to top it up it is surrounded by many historical, religious and scenic places, like Mt Abu, Kumbhalgarh Fort, Chittorgarh Fort, Dilwara Temple, Nathdwara Temple thus giving every traveller their unique share of interests.
You can find all sorts of cuisines from Indian to International and the city is sprawling with most renowned cafes and pizzerias. You will easily and locally find Italian Mexican Chinese South Indian North Indian cuisines. Not to miss are the local cuisine of dal bati churma and the famous Natraj thali. Udaipurites are becoming real foodies recently.
The hottest month are the months of May and June. It gets really hot in the day time during these months. The best time to viist Udaipur is from July to March. The monsoon showers start from July until September which cleans an greens the Udaipur and you see it real beauty with brimming lakes and waterfalls in the surrounding areas. The winter sets in from November and continues till February. There is also a local festival Shilp Gram Mahotsav celebrated in December in which artisans from all over India display their arts and crafts for sale.
