Who has time for grocery shopping on vacation? ESPECIALLY when you have little kids in tow.
We use grocery delivery to have our groceries meet us at our vacation rental at the approximate time we’ll arrive.
On this trip we arrived around dinner time with hungry children so being able to get dinner started immediately was a lifesaver.
While traveling we do a lot of meals on the go and quick + easy dinners where we’re staying. This way we can avoid taking overtired + hangry kids out to eat everyday.

But hiking without our kids is far less fun than when they’re with us! 🎒
Our top two ✌🏻 tips for hiking with kids…
1️⃣ Low expectations. Plan to go slow. Expect them to get tired and want to be held. Know they’re going to stop and look at everything. Don’t let your self be upset when meltdowns and big feelings happen. They will. And it’ll be easier to handle if you expected it.
2️⃣ Snacks. Nobody’s happy when they’re hungry. And kids get hangry fast! Even if they’re not actually hungry, favorite snacks can get kids out of a funk in a hurry.

Our 14 month old LOVES dandelions. She picks them everywhere we go. She thinks they’re special because I think they’re special.
Our toddler could spend an entire day playing with mud. Her creativity comes out the most when she’s mixing up soups and stews with the earth. She thinks it’s magical because we encourage her creativity.
They’re only this little today. Tomorrow they’ll be a little bigger.

We love hiking! And we love hiking with our kids!
Sure, if we went without them, our hikes would be far easier.
But we bring them along on our adventures to foster a love for the outdoors. To teach them to love and respect this beautiful planet we’ve been given. To see them fall in love with plants and animals and creatures of all kinds. To watch them overcome their fears and push themselves just a little further than they thought they could.
We hike with our children to nurture their curiosity for what the world has to offer.
Sure, they slow us down, but isn’t that the point?

Shoutout to all the parents still playing in the mud kitchen in the pouring rain!
Sometimes our kids don’t want to go outside. But we know the value in them being exposed to the elements and we’ve learned a few tricks along the way.
☝🏻We don’t ask if they want to go outside. We say ‘let’s go outside!’
✌🏻We go outside too! We get wet and cold and muddy and would never expect them to love being outside if we don’t show them how.
🤟🏻We give them things to do. We don’t just go for hikes, we look for hippos and giraffes along the way. We don’t just go outside to play, we make mud soups and paint rocks.
