Simply stunning!

: The delicate blooms of Eucalyptus spathulata, the Swamp Mallet.

Not content with having some of the daintiest blossoms going around, this Western Australian species also has deep red buds, beautiful silver-blue, slender leaves and glorious bronzed bark.

Our social media manager, Cathy, first met this species at Melton Botanic Garden and fell in love with its luxurious colour palette and smooth, burnished bark.

A fast-growing, drought and salt-tolerant species, the Swamp Mallet has a dense, shady crown and is widely planted in difficult sites.

Like other mallets, this species lacks the ability to resprout after fire or when coppiced.
