It's that time of year again. Black Swallow-Wort (aka dog strangling vine) is starting to ripen. The pods will open soon and send seeds into every crack and crevice in the city and neighboring woodlands. Do your part by gathering the pods, and, where possible, digging roots out. Dispose of these in black plastic bags in the trash (never compost). Seeds are viable for up to seven years. Don't be part of the problem.

We adopted Coco in the late fall of 2021 from the Humane Society of St Thomas. When we first brought her home she bonded with Jess and I instantly but was highly suspicious of everyone. Building her confidence has been a challenging journey and the closest I'll come to parenting in my lifetime. We've enjoyed more than a thousand walks over 3000+ miles together, most of them in the Fells. She's two years old today and starting to mellow into an easy going dog who's ready to cuddle up with close friends and family. I couldn't ask for a better pooch. Happy Birthday Coco!
