Where are my history lovers at? 🙋🏻‍♀️

During our stay down in South Texas to visit family for Christmas, we stopped by Palo Alto Battlefield & National Park. I’ve seen this 100 times on my trips down here and have always wanted to stop by because I used to teach history to 7th graders. We finally did.

We walked around and walked up the Mexican and United States battle line. Both boys completed activities to get their Junior Ranger badges. It was a fun time seeing something historical!

Here is a little explanation of the significance of this area:
The Battle of Palo Alto, fought on May 8, 1846, near present-day Brownsville, Texas, was the first major engagement of the U.S.-Mexican War. U.S. forces under General Zachary Taylor clashed with Mexican troops led by General Mariano Arista. The battle was defined by the effectiveness of the U.S. "flying artillery," which used rapid mobility and precision to outmatch the Mexican forces. Despite numerical superiority, the Mexican army suffered significant losses and retreated. The U.S. victory at Palo Alto marked a pivotal start to the conflict, showcasing American military innovation and setting the stage for further advances into Mexican territory.

One thing that my family and I like to do on Christmas Eve is make fresh, homemade cookies. 🍪 Of course, we save some for Santa and set them out with some milk and carrots (for the reindeer) later that night.

Last day of our cruise was a stop to Castaway Cay. We ate breakfast at 1923. I actually ran up to the buffet and grabbed four churro Mickey waffles for the family to try! So good! These suckers are so popular that now they only offer them in the buffet on the last day of the cruise! The wait didn’t disappoint though. They were delish!

Unfortunately, it was really windy and chilly, so we decided not to swim, but we did get off and walk around. Hopefully, we’ll visit one day on a warm summer day because this place looks fun! So much to do! You can paddleboard, snorkel, ride the big wheel water bikes, rent cabanas, swim and play, etc. there is even an adult only section. There are multiple places to eat, bars to stop at and get an adult-beverage or places to shop for souvenirs. They even have a working post office that you can mail postcards home!

After walking around and checking out the island, we decided to go back on the ship and watch Moana 2 in one of the three movie theaters on board. I also took my little guys to visit Moana because he kept asking to take a picture with her when he saw her at the Royal Round Table.

Dinner tonight was at Arendelle. While eating dinner, they put a live show featuring Princess Anna and her fiancée Kristoph. Elsa is celebrating their engagement and all the guests of the restaurant are there for a celebratory feast!

We watched their Broadway production show, Aladdin in the main theater tonight and it was a great! It may be my favorite one!

After the show, we headed back to our room to pack and get ready to head home in the morning. We had a 12:45 pm flight that we had to hurry to.

That’s it! The cruise was awesome and the Disney Wish is beautiful! I wish that we had a couple of more days because there is so much more that we could have done. Stay tuned though. Another Disney Cruise may be on the horizon!

Hello first day of winter! ❄️ ☃️

On day 3 of our cruise, was my favorite! We stopped at Nassau, Bahamas. I’m always in awe of the beautiful waters in the Bahamas! So pretty!

We got off and took an excursion over to the Blue Lagoon Island for a beach day. We played and swam, ate hamburgers and hot dogs provided by the excursion and played some more. The water was so clear and pretty it almost felt like we were in a pool! The island also has a separate swim with the dolphins and sea lions excursion. We didn’t do it, but we did walk over to see the dolphins!

This night was pirate night and was so fun! We stopped by to take pics with achewbacca and Rey before heading to dinner. We are ate at Worlds of Marvel again. Everyone dresses up on this night and lots of people are in pirate costumes. After dinner we saw a couple of shows on the pool deck. One had Mickey and friends, along with Captain Hook and Mr Smee, whom we later took pics with. The second show was a pirate party with a cameo appearance by Captain Jack Sparrow. This show ended with a firework show.

We ended the night by dropping off our fish extender gifts. (I’ll explain more about this at a later time.) After that, we were exhausted and ready for bed. Such a fun day!
